Yeah right Mr Goatee beard mate lol. There's too much sh*ite on here, we really need to start shovelling out the sh*ite lol. So Ponty kid, have you got a spade or a shovel.
We're back NUMBER 133 WINGS - BAND ON THE RUN They're only the band that The Beatles could have become. Is it reggae? Is it Rock? Is it a pulsating bassline? Yes, yes it is. I don't really like the album that much, but this song is all time.
NUMBER 132 WHAM - FREEDOM George Michael's best song - brilliant verses, great chorus. They were that important that they went to China when everyone else were shatting themselves. When a tune is that good that Noel Gallagher nicks the melody, you know you're in business.
NUMBER 131 REM - FIND THE RIVER This one is a cracker. Buried away at the end of their best album, and just joyous. How it builds to the last few chorus' blows my mind. Just beautiful.
NUMBER 130. ARCTIC MONKEYS - A CERTAIN ROMANCE Now, Alex Turner is a bit of a bellend. Everyone agrees on that. But when he produces basslines like this, with lyrics about Reebok Classics and kids in trackie bottoms, he had it. He lost it like, but anyone that made the money he has, doesn't have it any more. But he did once - and this is the result.
NUMBER 129 RIDE - 0X4 I'm having a right night. The wife is out on the town and I'm listening to shoegazing rhubarb. But this is different. The synths. The guitars that pulse like an absolute torrent of an erect penis. Oh god I like this one.
Ohh wow Madonna was amazing wasn't she, in the 80s. Here's that brilliant controversial one of hers...
And NZ as well, the Finn brothers. I recommend checking out early Split Enz, before they got commercial. Their peformances were pretty weird for the time. Mental Notes still one of my favourite albums.
I love this one Fonzie. I was living in OX4 round about this time so it brings back great memories. There was a great music scene in Oxford and the Thames Valley at this time and Ride were at it's head, there were great live venues in the Venue, Jericho and the OPSU.
NUMBER 128 OASIS - CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA They're back, it's been at least 20 songs. But this is the ideal night ender. You've had a brilliant evening with your mates, the sun is setting, its just after 10pm. You've had a few beers and there's been some magic music all night. Then someone plays this and you grab your mate and belt it out. Or you did when you were in your 20s.
Here's some top under rated Omd pop, with Pandora's box. And hey the intro alone here, is worth the entrance fee to begin with.
And this one always really cheers me up lol, yeah it just makes me smile for some reason. It's Go West, and The King of...
NUMBER 127 BRAN VAN 3000 - DRINKING IN LA Reminds me of college. Which is an automatic 2000 points. Great chorus and a great message - if in doubt, get on the ale at 11am. The Twang did a brilliant cover version too - but that's not important. She can sing the lass on this too.
NUMBER 126 REM - STRANGE CURRENCIES A melody as strong as a Horsham counter attack, and a lyric as clever and original as that Scott lad who hates Collins. With love comes Strange Currencies - no sht, Michael Stipe must know my ex Mrs. What a song.
