I'm not sure how you reach that conclusion, based on what's written in the statement. Both us and Donny were asked to consider moving our fixtures to either the Friday or the Sunday. The FA then contacted SYP to say a decision had been made for our game to move. There's all sorts of permutations for what happened in the middle of all that, which includes the possibility of BFC having decided to move to the Friday. However, it's far from the only possibility. The bit in the middle is still open to speculation for now.
The statement from South Yorkshire Police clearly states that they can only ask for a match to be moved, they can't make the decision https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/south-yorkshire-police-reveal-reasons-131249009.html "SYP can only ask for a change to be considered, decisions are made by other authorities." However, they also claim that policing in South Yorkshire is experiencing high levels of demand due to antisocial behaviour at night. So Why The Actual F has the match been moved to a Friday night when policing is in demand, rather than keep it on a Saturday afternoon (or move it to a Sunday afternoon) when there is less pressure on the police? It makes no sense. Did anyone even proof read the statement? "Policing in South Yorkshire, is currently experiencing high levels of demand. This is due locally to different factors, including anti-social behaviour linked to darker nights and fireworks"
SY Police "SYP can only ask for a change to be considered, decisions are made by other authorities." There's only two practical permutations to that: 1. The FA have instructed the Club to move the game. Unlikely I would suggest, but if true, the Club should have communicated this publicly then we wouldn't be having several pages of discussion on Social media. 2. The Club are happy (or supportive or apathetic) about the game being moved to Friday night.
Plenty of other nuances within the realms of possibility. Ultimately, the bit I'm interested in is how the process didn't reach the most obvious 'common sense' solution of the Donny game moving to the Friday and ours being at 3pm on a Saturday. It also makes a big difference to me what BFC's position was in reaching this situation. Happy/supportive means we've screwed over Horsham willingly, apathetic would be very worrying in general (given that there would be inevitable criticism arising). I'm hoping for 'fundamentally opposed to the change to the extent that the FA had to intervene and make the call directly' which would at least allow me to give the club some credit in the circumstances. We simply don't have enough information to determine what's gone on, and the club is contributing to that by offering no information to supporters, for which the wide-ranging criticism they're getting, including directly from Horsham FC, is fully deserved.
Comms from the club is absolutely diabolical. But roll up roll up. You can buy a poppy from the club shop. Priorities on Comms is all to ****
Then the FA remind us that we are already on dodgy ground with the EFL as far as previous misdemeanors are concerned, so we'd better come to the right decision or else.
Agreed, there at times, appears to be very little thought on decisions made, our PR is atrocious, attention detail is non existent sometimes. We are run on skeleton staff, I get we aren't loaded and have to watch the coin, but I just get the feeling sometimes there isn't enough hours in the day for people at the club to do their jobs properly, it's just fire fighting and making sure the basics are covered, very much tinpot
But more people will turn up to force an increase in variable costs but not a big enough number to turn a profit after those costs. For eg. I dont know the exact number, but lets say the ESL holds 4000 fans. If 4100 buy tickets at £10 that's an extra £1000 in gate money of which the club only get 45% so £450 to club. However, they now have to open East stand upper and rules say they have to have an extra 20 stewards to do so (regardless of numbers in stand) which cost the club £100 each so £1,000 loss for selling an extra 100 tickets. Don't hold me to any exact figures but you can see how this isnt an appealing proposition to the club. Everybody would criticise them if they had an empty stadium but 4000 (opposite the cameras) in one stand wouldn't look bad on them
If you recall Khaled tried that already and it wasnt at all well received. Many of the West Stand occupants just cancelled their tickets, a fair few didnt even come back when it reopened My Dad definitely wouldnt have renewed if the West had been permanently closed as he cant do the East Upper as too many steps and we got totally soaked on game in the East Lower. Not sure what Id have done but fortunately didnt have to decide I can honestly see why they may close the West for a round 1 FA cup game but to only open the ES Lower is showing no consideration to the fans and it will definitely impact the gate but I genuinely think the club dont care
Doesn’t say it was us, says FA has told them a decision was made. Could be we said whatever, yes, maybe. Could be other club said flat out no. Could be FA made decision.
Hard to avoid the conclusion that it was definitely our decision to play Friday rather than Sunday and we werent too fussed about moving from Saturday The fact we are plugging a Ladies match on the Sunday reinforces the point Poor that no consideration was given to the fans or either team or even in case of Horsham the players either. I dont think that SYP are solely responsible in this case
Your logic is flawed in one respect surely the stewarding costs are expenses which will be taken out before splitting the gate monies Also I expect the difference will be more than 100 fans - not sure how many but 500 at least seems a more likely number
Has anyone thought the club might be happier to play it on Friday and aren’t that arsed what fans might think
