if we are counting Hendrie, then surely the best is the one and only Sir Ronnie Glavin! Although tbh any best Barnsley player he is top of my list whatever the criteria !
spot on……if you haven’t heard of him, check his career record. Leaves all the other ones mentioned in this thread way behind.
Maceo Rigters Mounir el Haimour Miguel Mostto Bartosz Bialkowski Aaron Leya Iseka Scott Wiseman Mido Ike Ugbo Obbi Oulare David Mulligan
Some great players on that list, although personally Eric Tinkler would be absolutely nowhere near. One of my least favourite Barnsley players ever, who thought he was far better than he actually was. Would struggle to get into my top 10 Africans to represent Barnsley!
Styles doesnt qualify surely Born in Bury, to English parents Lived in Bury for 18 years Worked in Barnsley last 5 years Speaks one language- English English name Well its one hell of a stretch anyway !
If you say that then Ronnie Glavin and all the other Scottish players come into consideration. You could even consider Ethan Pinnock on that basis. The OP states ‘Overseas’ players which I can only take to mean those born outside the UK, otherwise it starts to become a meaningless exercise in my opinion
Gerry Taggart and Gary Fleming were both born in NI, which is outside Great Britain... and Ireland definitely is. Arjan De Zeeuw is also one of the fans favourites at Wigan and Portsmouth. Not many players can claim to be so popular at 3 clubs...
If Northern Ireland counts as overseas, surely the great Danny Blanchflower, captain of Spurs' 60-61 double-winning team and regarded by Spurs fans as one of their greatest players ever, must have a strong claim.
