Do you not think conceding 3 at home to a 7th tier team is embarrassing? Do you not think it’s true that the we should beat a 7th tier team?
I’ve had to rely on radio and online comments as playing Friday night meant I couldn’t go and am not defending the performance but the stats are bizarre Horsham had 4 shots and scored 3 goals we had 25 12 on target and scored 3 Another day we win comfortable despite being poor. The FA cup has a habit of doing this sort of thing It doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. I remember watching us fail to beat Enfield Oakwell with the side that went on to promotion later that season. Complete with Glavin Banks Aylott etc. not worth getting all excited about
Yes I think we should be beating a 7th tier side. Do you think it's embarrassing that folk wants Collins sacked after about a dozen games when we're 5th in the league?
Let's just hope we learn from this and Collins can see what the fans on here can see, there's certainly some know all's.
I agree. At the end of the day we all want the best for Barnsley and should respect and debate other opinions.
There’s some quality in the side for sure, but there’s also some raw quality for want of a better word, especially in defence, but obviously that’s the route we’ve gone down, signing lower league players with potential, these players have replaced quality such as Andersen, Thomas, Kitching. Our captain is playing out of position, our strikers just aren’t clicking, & our midfield is rather disjointed, mainly due to Connell being unavailable up until now. The jury is still well & truly out on Collins, up to press he’s hardly been inspiring, but he’s a rookie in management really, that’s the gamble we took. He seemed the perfect fit initially, his formation preference mirrored Duff’s, & had played at a high level in English football. But then I think he’s been drawn the short straw in terms of the tools available to do a better job than his predecessor, that’s probably why he deserves the backing from the supporters. I’m quite happy to take this season as a consolidation season, let him build a squad ready to compete at the next level. This squad would do no better than Sheffield Wednesday are doing in the championship imo.
Nowt about his opinions, even though he’s demonstrated in the past he knows fa about football. I’m calling him out for being a little b1tch that has to join in when people try ostracising someone for daring to have a different opinion to the masses.
On any other day/night, we could have hammered them with all the chances and shots we had. But the annoying fact is we didn't, and I will genuinely say well done to them. I didn't think it was our strongest team to start with, and surely Cole would have really wanted to get at them right from the start. What was that strike formation from 62 minutes onwards, with no 'recognised' striker ?. I will look for just two positives, that Connell came on and got involved, and young Jalo has to be pleased with his contribution.
I can’t help thinking what might have happened if it had been a weekend match with the ground open as normal to produce a more realistic atmosphere
personally I’m unconvinced by Collins. 5th in a very poor league is an ok start. Take away a random purple patch from Cole and where would we be? I don’t share that view but understand the frustration. Far too early to sack him but I’d certainly be reviewing his position at Christmas. Ponderous build up really kills any atmosphere in the ground and we seem to have no idea how to change pace or break down teams that defend well in numbers. 10 home games. Out of League Cup Drawn against Horsham 4 defeats in the league. from the next 6 home games we need to Improve dramatically.
Not saying I want Collins sacked but we're 5th in the league with a squad that should be at least 5th in the league. There's definitely flaws in our tactics and a lack of fluidity that needs to be improved by Collins in my opinion.
