In which case the wrong appointment was made automatic promotion should be the bare minimum, consolidation is what we should aspire to when we get back to the Champ not in the Dog & Duck
How on earth can automatic promotion be the bare minimum? Should it have been last season when Wednesday and Ipswich had budgets that dwarfed ours? Should it be this year when there are clubs like Bolton, Portsmouth and Derby to contend with? We should be aiming for promotion but to say it's a bare minimum. It's cloud cuckoo land. We're Barnsley and we're playing in a world now where we are a top end L1, lower end Championship club and unless you've got 5 to 10million per season up your sleeve that's the way it's staying.
People have kept saying we’ve best midfield in the league? Don’t get it we’ve Styles who turns up when he can be arsed and won’t be here Jan, Phillips has been woeful since Wembley, not sure Russell is s footballer half the time, yes we have Luca coming back and won’t mention Kane too much because his negativity is the reason we keep going sideways, I can remember a few decent goals he’s scored but struggling to remember many good games
There isn't a lack of ambition. The Board are putting millions into the club to put us on an even keel. Unless we start finding a lot more players we can sell for stupid money we are where we are. Money is now king in football and we have very little. That's not lack of ambition it's just cold, hard reality.
We've got far better players than the majority of league 1 teams and should definitely be aiming for promotion while we still have them.
Top 6 should be the bare minimum this season. It’s not especially a strong L1 this time. It’ll get stronger next season for sure with the clubs likely to come down and the likes of Wrexham, Notts County and Stockport coming up. All those 3 will have money to spend.
I'm not and never have been a 'happy clapper' and if I don't think a player is good enough I think we should be allowed to say it but some of the comments on here ( like this one)are just outright embarrassing and out of order. A player ( in this case a very skilful one) happens to read ***** like that and eventually leaves and then folk wonder why!
I thought we were aiming for promotion. Who says we're not? I'm sure Ipswich felt the same during the 5 or 6 seasons they just spent down at this level. I'm not saying we can't aim for promotion. We can. But to suggest it's just a matter of doing x, y ad z and hey presto is daft.
All they want to do is past sideways or backwards, the only time we showed any real sign was when Luca came on. He dictates play and can read the next ball , as soon as he passes to someone he is telling them where to send the next one. They could do worse than letting him take a training session
absolutely spot on-I said it last season-He shows a maturity and tactical awareness well beyond his young age-should be captain
The person who said we are where we are because we lack ambition. Presumably add factor x (ambition) and we get promoted. Easy. Except it's not.
You could clearly see Williams was having a mare. Collins should have taken him off at half time. Know idea why he didn't. Poor performance by most of our players. Well done to Horsham. Our defending was schoolboy at best.
Tactics too slow / pedestrian at home. They work away when the onus is on the home team to attack but at home when teams sit back we're so slow with the sideways and backwards passing teams have everyone back.
He's the captain can't take the captain off especially when he doesn't want to play anyway, take the arm band off him see if that works can't see it myself but why not give it a try?
