Anybody know what’s going on here where you turn down onto haigh lane and common lane saying road closed.its looks like common lane is one way which was not there last week.
    Are they putting lights there?

There have been several serious accidents there over the last few years and this is their attempt to solve the problem. Not sure it works tbh. The signage needs to be better imo. I haven't heard anything about lights though...

It will be a mammoth task sorting it.

There was a burst watter pipe there weeks ago when I walked past. Probably YW trying to pass responsibility onto somebody else to fix it.

A big roundabout with traffic lights, like Stairfoot.

Travelled from Halifax where I live to mums in Royston on Saturday, it's permanent.
All road markings and signage for one way only all in place coming along towards Staincross etc, you now have to turn left down Haigh lane travelling towards West Yorks or right towards Crigglestone/Hall Green etc, going straight on and then left towards services etc can't be done anymore

TBF you can just turn right then next left and you come to crossroads to go straight on down Bramley lane towards West Bretton it's about 1 min difference, so if its been done to stop traffic cutting through its pointless but if its genuinely been done to reduce accidents it can only be a plus.

Cutting through where though, the back roads are quiet it’s the main Woolley edge road that’s busy?

Lots of people rather than going down haigh Lane went down Bramley Lane into the services and onto the motorway

I don’t use motorway I get to the top of crossroads at Brantley and go straight across to take me through Royston prefer that way to going down through staincross.

Went, being the operative word. Not sure it can be done now without a pass. Eg employee of the service station.

Is this a very recent change as upto a couple of weeks ago people were still able to do this, so perhaps the changes to both are additional measures to direct traffic down haigh lane etc.
I don't use M1/M62 to commute to Royston but do use Bramley Lane through West Bretton village etc, like I said coming back I just turn right (opposite haigh Lane) then left to get back to the top of Bramley Lane, no big deal really

Not sure mate, but I used it regularly when I worked for YW. And then it was stopped. That was many many years ago though. Gave up trying after that tbf.

No lights just a one way system to try and stop accidents at the top of Haigh lane, I’m that old I can remember them changing the junction so that you could go straight over at the top of Haigh lane onto intake lane and you had to give way from the left and right that didn’t go down well, hopefully this new scheme doesn’t have the same effect ?

You Don't, just turn right instead of turning left down haigh Lane, then take the first left and your back at the crossroad to go straight down to West Bretton

No it’s not I’m afraid, the roads all around Woolley are bedlam to name just one or two you’re likely to get run over on - Seckar lane cut through to motorway, New road cut through to A61, Gypsy lane two way one track road with speeding idiots going both ways a backroad to A61 there’s many more, the adverts right people think country roads are quite so the can speed up
