Noticed he hasn't got a Wiki page. Was he any good? Reason I'm asking is I was watching Match of the Eighties and in the 81-82 season. He was caught out by the pitch away at QPR and dived low to save a header that bounced and went into the roof of the net.

Yes he was a decent keeper but we've had better. He only played 80 games over three seasons and was in and out of the team with Martin New competing for the jersey. Came from Crystal Palace.

    1. He was an ok goalie was Bobby as I recall . In fact over the years that I can remember we’ve always had a fairly steady pair of hands between the sticks with the exception of one Nicky Townsend. He was truly awful. Also there was that Radlinger who came with Daniel Stendell, I was never overly confident with him either.

I think it was Struber that signed Radlinger

During the 1981/82 season, Bobby Horn was a very good, young goalkeeper. Sadly, he never seemed to kick on career wise from there.

As with most young goalies imo at the time. Great shot stoppers. But not so great with crosses etc. To me that comes with experience.

Was Martin New also in the squad around the same time or was it Gary Pierce?

    Apparently
Horn played 80 games for us between 80 and 84
    New played 24 games 80-81
    Pierce 81 79-83

Martin New was signed from Mansfield Town during the close season of 1980. Due to Gary Pierce's injury, New started the 1980/81 as the No.1 goalie. Pierce didn't return until the November. Once Pierce was injured again at Fulham in January, New was recalled. However, once Pierce was fit again, New was dropped and never selected again. The following Summer, Pierce was injured again. Horn, who had signed on a free transfer from Crystal Palace, started the season as No. 1 at home to Shrewsbury, playing all 42 games.

I think he re signed for Palace in 1984. But his career seemed to peter out.

Aye, I was at that game. We were very unlucky not to get a draw from what was in truth a fairly dire game. Had it been a proper grass pitch it would have been postponed as the temperature had been hovering below zero for a week or two. If memory serves, it was on Match of the Day due to being one of very few games played that day. It should have been postponed anyway, the half of the pitch in the shade was covered in frost and the players were doing impressions of Torvil and Dean. Derrick Parker being Torvil. :)

To answer your question, Bobby was an excellent 'keeper.
