To have a march on poppy day shows how much respect these people have for anyone but themselves. Don't they realise these people gave the ultimate price so we can live in a free world. For one day give it a rest.
You have a valid point although I disagree . I am of the opinion it is time Israel gave it a rest. I personally will be attending a memorial to remember the fallen as usual.
The timing is disgraceful, makes my blood boil. There’s already been damage to a war memorial in Manchester. These people have no respect for our country and more importantly our war dead. It’s a disgrace.
I suspect there have been many protest marches over the years that have happened on armistice day and its never been an issue im not sure why this one is, and its not due to start until 12
I hope you realise the irony of condemning a peaceful march opposing war in the same sentence as praising remembrance day. That said, they could easily have avoided all this and chosen a different day. I can see how it would rile certain sorts of people up (mainly Mail readers) and combined with the disgusting rhetoric of our home secretary, its got the potential to get very ugly.
Yeah, a march calling for peace in Palestine and a stop to the bombing of innocent civilians being held on (checks notes) armistice day! What were they thinking??!?
Of course they realise it. They also realise thousands of their kin are being slaughtered. What a better time to raise the profile. The protest marches are in the afternoon. Of course there will be nobheads among em. Can I ask how many Brits will show respect on armistice day. Or go about their normal business. Very few. I'm with you mate. I think. I cry for the innocent caught up in it but I also think Hamas terrorists have no conscience. They will be given time to regroup during a ceasefire. A real dilemma. Glad I dont have to make decisions. In that respect. But could I ask. On armistice day. ? Or remembrance sunday?. Or both ? Tbh most brits go about their normal business on armistice. Not saying it's right or wrong. Just an observation. (Mainly because it lands on different days of the week. Mostly working days mon-fri) To all. I do believe in the right to protest and not tar the vast majority of protesters who want an end to the massacre of innocents on either side. The march is scheduled for 12:45pm taking in the American embassy. And it's not a case of a lack of respect imo. But to raise the profile. There will be nobheads trying to spoil the day. But that would happen irrespective of the march imo. And there will be nobheads looking for a fight with the protesters. Chest thumping by the ministers against the march. attracts these particular nobheads.
Meanwhile the government supports a regime committing genocide for 70 years and infringing on the freedoms of others. Seems the perfect day for it, if you ask me. Calling for peace on Armistice day, is there any more appropriate day?
They held their last march when I was going out for a family meal, absolutely fuming. 10,000 dead in Gaza and they have the cheek to spoil my Nandos. So disrespectful
Not looked into this yet so purely based on this thread. Am I right in thinking they are protesting on Saturday the 11th in the afternoon as opposed to either Saturday at 11 or Sunday the actual ‘official’ service day? If the above is correct then I don’t see the issue and feels the terminology to describe is deliberate.
Both, respect 2 minutes silence Saturday, attend memorial Sunday. My main point was it is time Israel gave it a rest.
Respect mate re your stance. And acknowledgments. It's a fair point mate. I just feel Hamas terrorists will not use it to allow all innocents to escape the conflict. If it's true for example they use hospitals to hide their weaponry. And as said time to regroup. I also edited slightly when I read back what I posted to make points to others on this thread. not yourself. It's a **** world we live in.
You should have protested for peace on the border between Europe and Asia. You might have got Free Turkey.
Genocide is happening & kids are been slaughtered in their thousands whilst our government & opposition support it. What do you want the peace campaigners to do? Considering they’ve only got weekends to seriously protest, are they supposed to leave it a fortnight? How many more die in that fortnight? It’s unfortunate timing that it overlaps this time of year but that’s how it is. I’d like to think if I was in Gaza fearing for my life that people would be protesting every available opportunity to put pressure on the Israeli’s to stop.
With respect omb. Are you not tarring all with the same brush. They are calling for an end to the slaughter of thousands. And there will be thousands of brits with no connection to Palestine alongside em. You may not agree with the timing I understand that.
