I hope he recovered fully. Still grates that Morgan and his vile club got off Scot free after one of the most blatant episodes of gbh in the history of the game

Saw his episode of under the cosh' i seem to remember him saying that Morgan never went to see him or enquire about him' he was quite rightly still bitter.

Now living in Woodstock, Canada - and was in 2020 the guest coach of the local team.

After leaving us, he played for Preston, Doncaster, Fleetwood and Tranmere with spells in India (with Michael Chopra) and Spain before retiring in 2019.

Yes it sickened me it easily could have been a fatal blow. I was only thinking about it this morning and hoping Ian did not suffer any lasting effects from the incident.

After watching Chris play through the ranks and later becoming friends with his dad I had a lot of time for him and he was my type of player. All that respect and admiration went through the window and although he was "one of us" I can never forgive what he did to Hume.

I don't think Hume came across great in his undr the cosh interview.

He said at the start that he'd intentionally tried hurting players in games. From memory Chris Brown asked him what the difference between that and the incident with Morgan was, and he could only say that the difference was that he'd nearly died. Whilst I'm not condoning Morgan's actions in the slightest, I don't think he intended to fracture Hume's skull, so it felt a little hypocritical from Iain.

I also think that if Morgan sought legal help, he'd have been instructed by them to show no remorse as that would be accepting blame.

Again, I'm not condoning Morgan's actions, they were disgusting and have no place anywhere, let alone a football pitch. I just think Humey didn't come out of it great either.

I watched the videos many times after that game and they all confirmed what I saw on the day. Neither of them were running, they were more or less standing still, neither jumped to head the ball, had they done, Morgan with his extra height would have won it easily. Hume came from behind Morgan to challenge, Morgan saw him coming and intentionally crashed his elbow into him. I couldn't say whether or not he intended the damage that he did but he definitely intended to hurt Hume and prevent him making the challenge. The very best interpretation was that it was serious dangerous play and warranted the minimum of a yellow card (which would surely have been upgraded to red on appeal) but the ref completely bottled it, allowing Morgan and the Blunts to get off scot free. Probably the worst refereeing decision I've seen in almost 50 years watching The Reds.

No real attraction to any of the big so called glamorous clubs. Always liked an underdog.
The Hume incident started it. Saw it on spn.
Also saw the delight on all you fans faces when you had that good cup run beating Chelsea.
Then thought that is an English club I could enjoy following. Had at the time family in Chesterfield making it easy to make some of your games.
