A scenario.. We get promoted to the championship this season .. Will there be a sale of our better players eg Luca, Maël, Styles etc as in years gone by and head coach too? That after all has been the pattern over the last few years then we struggle against relegation yet again. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Because it makes me feel the directors and the supporters are "not singing from the same hymn sheet" the words on the hymn sheet being... ambition??

By "ambition", do you mean spending **** loads of money that we don't have?

If we were promoted, I'd hope we'd have a better chance of holding onto the better players. It's when we don't get promoted that players may want to better themselves and that's when we can't really turn down transfer fees. The owners won't keep putting money in forever.

Did I miss something, have they started putting money in?

Going up to 11 million in the championship next season..
We'd need a complete back line again that's for sure.. Imagine the one's we have now in the champ.. it would be shots in.!
Poor league as well this season.. if we don't make it this time, then with the number of first teamers who will walk for nothing in the summer (Khalid should be sacked for that fact alone) it may be a quiet a long stay in L1 from next Aug

IF we sell our best players if we get promoted, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll stay in this same cycle. It's all dependant on who we bring in. Last time, we stayed up by the skin of our teeth the first season, after losing the likes of Kieffer Moore, Adam Davies and Ethan Pinnock, but the following season, finished 5th in the Championship.

In comings are as important as outgoings. One thing that's clear to me at the minute if we go up is that we'll have to significantly strengthen.

Since the boardroom coup they have invested over £10million - mainly Neerav, who now has majority control of the club.

So yes, they’ve put a hell of a lot of money in, just to keep the club going.

I think the reality is , due to finances that have been pumped into clubs such as Burnley Bournemouth Birmingham Brighton Brentford (all the b’s) and various others , we have slipped down the footballing pyramid

finance is more important now than it was 30 years ago

we are a top end league one club. So unless we manage to find a way to gain competitive advantage (quite often this is a top manager - which I think we had in Michael Duff, or an excellent recruitment model - see Barnsley FC) more likely than not, we will continue to flounder in the championship but should do ok in league one. My view is that our existing model is not fit for purpose in the championship. However, with some very minor tweaking it would be - that is blend with a bit more experience.

expect lots of relegations and promotions in the next 30 years is my guess

Don't think we'd need to sell. I would imagine salary increases would be modest (compared to increased TV money). I think whether we'd invest in incoming players is a bigger question.

I can only see a sale if there's a player that looks too good to stay with us (e.g. Pinnock). I think Championship level would match the ambitions of most of our current squad.

Just looking at our fellow promotion teams most have done much better than us and sustained a championship team eg Millwall, Coventry, Huddersfield, Luton even Rotherham to a lesser extent where as we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot every season..

Be interesting to see what Neerav real intentions are, is the recent monies a means to an end with the double of whammy of increasing his shareholding, once he gets to control he wants will he continue to put money in just to support.

I'd like to think he'd want to push on. That said, a number of issues need addressing on the pitch by Collins otherwise we aren't going to get promoted. The home form, coming from behind, team selection, a settled side and beating the better teams.

I don't think we look a good footballing side atm, we are sitting pretty at the minute, there is no doubt the league is much weaker than last season imo, if we do manage to go up I think we would have to spend a boat load or be very lucky in recruitment, our current team/ squad as it stands would imo get mullered more often than not in the league above ( all opinions of course)

I think at times we're pleasing on the eye and should have won the Fleetwood and Horsham games.

We currently have the 3rd best defence in the division. I know. That doesn't compute, but only Portsmouth and Oxford have conceded fewer in the league (Derby and Cambridge are also on 15).

I think theres a myth about us always selling our best players.
For a start if our players aren't getting attention from other clubs we're doing something wrong.Selling players can be attributed to many different scenarios like length of contract ,bids from other clubs which we can't turn down, players wanting to move on for whatever reason etc.
In the past 100 and odd years I'm sure we've made errors when selling players,I now get the feeling things are changing. We seem to be getting more cash and not bending at minimal offers.Come the summer if we do get promotion we should be in a better place financially to dictate who stays ,who goes and who we fetch in.
