No. Whoever lumbered him with a complete set of terrible, weak, slow, aerially poor, positionally lacking, uncommanding defenders should be first out of the door and PDQ. Clough, Ferguson, Pep, Ancellotti and Colin Wnaker all rolled into one couldn't get a tune out of that lot.
Spot on. The issues at this Club have been the same for the last 6 Coaches. No point taking it out on Collins; it’s higher. Though good to hear part of the ‘problem’ is moving on.
Colin would get a tune out of our defenders. He wouldn’t be scared of playing Jack Shepherd over a very average loanee just because he was signed from Ponte pit fc for a start.
A dour bloke with a dour haircut and a dour accent and a dour set of footballers playing a drab style of football.
It’s all well & good calling for Warnock, but then what? At best he manages to get us promoted with this squad, but then he’ll not stick around & we’re back to square one, being the whipping boys of the championship with a squad nowhere near good enough. We need a long term vision, ideally with Collins. Recruitment needs to be tweaked.
I've had at least 12 pints tonight, and even I can see that it's batshit mental to want him sacked. Been a good night though.
Agee with everything except the "dour set of footballers" bit. If we really did have a dour set of footballers, I'd be willing to accept the dour football as a necessary evil for us to be 6th in the table. He seems to be shackling the likes of Cadden, Styles, Phillips etc and I have no idea why. If we're still playing sideways and backwards nonsense once Connell is fully fit, then his position has to be seriously looked at. We should be at least 6th in the table with the squad we've got whatever style we're playing.
Completely disagree. Granted Lopata is out injured, but a central trio of Shepherd, Lopata when he's back and De Gevigney with Williams and Cadden as wing backs should be more than good enough for this league.
Exactly. Last season, Phillips and Kane played as proper midfielders, joined in attacks and helped to generally get the ball forward quickly. They weren't dour footballers then and the only reason they could be considered so now, is because of the instructions they are being given by Mr Collins. I said on the Luca thread last week that I hope once Connell is back 100%fit, we play more like last season and get rid of the ridiculous two holding midfielders and go out to actually win games of football. I fear I may be clutching at straws though.
That's a fair point. Although in temperatures of 25-30 degrees and high humidity for almost all home matches, a high pressing game isn't really feasible. I assumed he'd adapt it when he came here but it appears not. Slow passing to conserve energy and slowly grind down the opposition by pulling them out of shape is a perfectly reasonable plan in the sub-tropics. Less so in England in November.
I think that the current way of playing is perfectly reasonable for away games. Even taking yesterday's aberration into account, our away record is absolutely phenomenal. But we really do need to be showing a bit more flair and ambition at home. Not only is it painful to watch, it's not particularly effective.
I don't think it's even a good tactic away from home, we've just been incredibly, incredibly lucky that against some atrocious teams we've got away with it.
I think that's just wishful thinking tbh, it's all about opinions of course.. Lopata, Shepherd & De Gevigney may become better players, but at the moment all three look way behind the players we had last year.
I'm in the changing opinion camp unfortunately. dint want him sacked but now can't see any other options if this form continues. in my opinion he's lost the dressing room and this is why there's so many "players can't be ars*d" comments on here. Note to the deluded BBS posters who quote the January window..Were a SELLING club so expect bids for anyone who's even half decent to be accepted with poundland replacements from lower leagues brought in..I sometimes think that Coaches who come here either fail or quickly depart when the real set up at BFC becomes apparent. Imagine in your job if you grafted your rocks off only to see someone else benefit from your work while your handed more untried materials knowing if you perform what the outcome will be.. More concerned about how we're run...( This is where the "ye lets spend trillions we don't have" comments come in) maybe stop openly touting that everything's for sale and cement a stronger club ethos of a pride and passion to play for BFC..God knows there wasn't any yesterday....
They are too slow.. that's why Collins persists with Williams there..he is the closest thing we have to a bit of pace in the back line. We are a mid table at best with these defenders and keeper. Roberts and Coles best form of his career, plus playing the poor sides away have us in sixth.
Only to be expected that they'd be way behind a back line who are now plying their trade in the Championship and Premier League! That still doesn't make them insufficient for this level. I'm absolutely sure they'll all have very good careers in professional football.
