Gerrim signed on a free transfer. Offer a decent wage linked to appearances and goal bonus. Must be worth a try. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/spor...lmlliSEOqSQ8j_nxxsqY-SnknFe7sbwOeKXnnBxm-0-fg
Got 6 in 12 isn't a bad record to be fair so it's surprising he's been released. I'd take him just for the guidance he can provide our younger lads, he'd offer invaluable knowledge when it comes to being a striker.
This a joke mate? Why on earth would we give him a managerial job? Plenty of more worthy managers out there who deserve a shot - not one just because he's a relatively big name. It'd be incredibly embarrassing having a player/manager in league one these days.
Chill? I literally asked if it was a joke! But I agree with you bud, I don't think he'd come here either. I know people say it was only 1 or 2 taking the piss out of him for his child, but that will stick with him forever. I would take him as a player until end of season though, but wouldn't come, I'd be shocked if he did.
All I’ve heard all season is ‘we should press more’ even though we haven’t had the players to do it so it would be funny reading fans moaning that 37 year old Billy Sharp isn’t pressing if we signed him
But we don't press like we used to. So we may as well have a clinical striker putting away chances bud. Cosgrove certainly doesn't press, that's not his game
I might have agreed back in the summer but it’s a complete non-starter with the number of forwards on the books. I’d rather us try & make use of our investment in them now we’ve signed them
I don’t think so. I think we’d have taken some right hammerings pressing with Russell as holding midfielder & 3 centre backs that can’t sprint.
We have been playing Williams at center back you think he is slow? We have took some right hammerings against any half decent team we have come across plating the possession stuff sideways backwards. Oxford, posh, Derby and majority of the pompey game. Alot of games Roberts kept the score down.
No but the consensus on here has been that Williams should go to RWB & we should press more. I should’ve worded it as natural centre backs. But at the same time if you do press more with Williams at centre back then he’s going to have to deal with a lot more aerial duels. I don’t really understand our recruitment. We’ve now got 6 natural centre backs on the books & none of them are quick & there’s only really Cundy that’s dominant in the air. I know we can improve our centre backs passing & decision making but we can’t make them faster or a couple of inches taller.
Agree with this a deal to end of season would be a no brainer, I wouldn't be looking at it from starting every game view, but more of that old experienced head around the place and someone you know is going to put chances away last 20 mins when the games getting stretched. We won't go near him tho it's far too much common sense, we'd much rather stick to stubbornness. Wonder if a coaching role maybe an assistant at Rovrum is on the cards
I think Williams should go to rwb as last season he was one of the best rwbs in the division. I agree the other center backs it seems more quantity over quality. We sold kitching on the last few days of the window as the offer was too good to turn down and brought in McCart who I haven't been impressed by. Hopefully come January were able to use some of the money we made on kitching and get a decent center half in. I see your point about if we press it forces the opposition to go long and Williams would struggle in the ariel battles as would our other defenders. But if the only alternative is to play tippy tappy sideways backwards Lee Johnson style in our own half then roll over when a half decent team plays against us it's going to be a long season.
