    Jesus Christ!!!!

Probably thee worst area I’ve worked in in a long long time, from human ***** on the floor to pillocks doing handbrake turns round street corners, I’d say this place is a proper ghetto!!!

Get me back to Barnsley quick!

When I worked in Leeds, Little London, Seacroft and Osmondthorpe were all worse...

Leeds has a nice city center great to eat and drink out, alot of the surrounding areas are shitholes couldn't pay me enough to live there. Same with most big city's I imagine.

Its 20 years since I worked for the council, but I used to joke that the best thing you could do would be to start to bulldozer a strip 1-2 miles wide from Elland road and drive it northeast skirting around the city centre and up to Seacroft and rebuild the lot. Although plenty of nice areas around Leeds too.

    Meanwood is similar!
Once worked on the estate in Buttershaw, Bradford, that was an eye opener too.

That might possibly the first time in history that Meanwood and Gipton have been classed as being similar to each other.

Not sure where you were in Meanwood, but the two aren't remotely comparable.

Buttershaw got a bad rap in the olden days (when I was a lad) but it is posh compared to some current Bradford Ghettos; Holme Wood, Lidget Green, Manningham, Heaton*.

*Heaton was ranked the poshest place in Britain outside London from Victorian times to WW2. There was some serious coin there.

Harehills, East end Park, Chapeltown. The list goes on.... Beaston, Hunslet, Belle Isle, Cross Green,....

The places I would live in Leeds:
    Cross Gates/Colton/Austhorpe - Woodlesford/Oulton.
    Alwoodley/Shadwell/Cookridge

Thats about it. Generally there are a few nice areas surrounded by absolute hell holes.

Under Leeds Council, you also had Otley, Wetherby, Bramham, Guiseley, Sherbourne and a few others that were decent areas.

Clearly I'm biased but Horsforth is lovely. Even so, has its rough patches - sure most of you saw the tragic fatal stabbing of a 15yo last week just outside the school gates. I know teachers get a load of stick at times but they have been superb this last week following the incident despite a few of them both witnessing the attack and attempting CPR on the lad involved. My daughter been really impressed with the support offered. Credit where it is due.......

I've lived in Lidget Green and Manningham and Buttershaw. In Buttershaw it's poor and White British/Irish, in Lidget Green and Manningham it's poor and Pakistani. I preferred the Pakistani areas, much better shops and curry places.

A think hell holes is being generous!!

One of my pals works at LGI and he says they seem to have daily stabbing and shooting victims turning up daily, also says that armed police are often in the grinds of the hospitals
