I suspect that, like me, you've had a pint or two earlier than usual. Which might be fuzzing your message.

Try and capture it in less than a dozen words.

Does anyone genuinely think that Israel give a flying **** what a bunch of out of touch sheltered politicians in England have to say?
We think they're all fuckwits so why would Israel take any gorm of them?

The message is very simple. I'm not down with Starmer, but it is the Government stance, i.e. Sunak who is in the driving seat. There has been diplomatic visits by the shadow cabinet to Israel & Gaza. Until they are in power, they have zero influence on what can only be the solution, which is 2 states & an end to Israeli illegal settlements.

    BTW, what are you drinking?

Some wheat beer out of a Perfect Draft machine in the kitchen.

Before that I finished off an Old Particular bottle of Caol Ila whisky that was a retirement present. That's the whole lot gone now. Work and the rewards for it.

    I'm having a decadent day.

But trying to maintain my usual balance.

    You?

As you sit there typing that, the Leader of the Labour movement has managed to put his party into a position where they have turned their back on the slaughter of over 10,000 Men, Women and mostly children. That's a great position isn't it. Something to be really proud of. Still never mind eh - Emmerdale will be on later.

The Staropramen 33cl bottles are next. One gulp and they're gone though.

    Hic.

(oh god there's a dog still to walk).

    A few points..

    • There's likely many more than 50+ Labour MPs (nearly 1 in 3 MPs) who wanted to vote for a ceasefire but didn't do so, and chose to obey Starmer and the party whips
    • The lack of a free vote in a matter of conscience won't be forgotten by some MPs
    • I don't buy the idea that it makes no difference. It's all pressure and when polls show the majority of UK citizens want a ceasefire then it's entirely ineffectual at a political level to simply not reflect that mood.
    • A ceasefire will eventually come, so politically it just looks like a UK green light for Israel to continue the killing until they've "finished the job" and killed who knows how many more thousands of people. Again, a bad look.
    • I suspect Starmer will feel a hit from this politically, especially amongst a usually loyal Labour voting Muslims.

Huge own goal from Starmer. All he had to do was have a free vote or support a ceasefire. Neither would happen as Israel don’t care.
I can’t believe he did what he did.

Again, takes some squinting to read "turned their back on slaughter" in their wording, but keep trying to turn it into something it isn't.

Glad you feel the whole thing was a worthwhile exercise yesterday.

I don’t mind listening to an alternative view about Labour’s decision, and I’m open to change on my own position, if you want to give it a go?

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I have turned 65 today, feeling very old, and desperately trying to cling on to "middle-aged"! Can't even get my state pension for another year. Still, I can now buy a 'seniors' match ticket for Oakwell! :D:D:D
