I quite like Shepherd, and I think with the right coaching and experienced head at the side of him he will do well, eventually. I know I took the pi$$ out of his red card last night but it was meant in good humour after that shocking team performance.

We sign a player from Ponte colliers & he struggles at league 1 level, what a shocker! The fact is recruitment has been woeful & the supporters need a massive reality check, promotion is getting more unrealistic as the weeks go by, but we can’t be surprised. Plus it’s looking more likely that Collins isn’t very good, it’s looking very bleak. A massive game on Saturday, a good performance & a win is required.

I am very fortunate to have my 90 year old dad to access players (he was the x scout) and tell me what he thinks...he is about 95% correct on every player he sees and could sum most up in 40 minutes.
When we discussed our defence, he just summed it up by saying that was potential in most but to chuck them all together with the learning curve they have was suicide.
Incidently he says there is a real player with our French kid and Something with Leopata ...however there is no one to learn from, I guess we needed an Edward's in like last year but we were given McCart....who isn't up to the standard we need.

No but you were suggesting McCart is the experience like Sollbauer we need, or asking depends how you view it.

A few people have said we need experience. My point is, we have experienced players, and it's still not working, so maybe experience isn't the answer. It's not realistic to think we're going to get someone like Sollbauer in this division and on our budget. As you've said, McCart isn't good enough, but what do you expect? If he was good enough, he'd be playing for Rotherham. If anything, the success we've had over the last few seasons with signings have largely come from lesser experienced players at this level. I mean, even at centre half this season, arguably our best 2 centre halves are Lopata (very little league experience) and De Gevigney (less than 100 games in the French lower leagues).

I think Shepherd has been let down by Collins. He was dropped whilst he was playing well and has been crap since he came back in. His dip in form is because his confidence was shot to pieces by the manager.
