Some people on twitter saying fans flagged it up on the night in question - though I don't recall seeing any comments of that nature.
If it was the fact that Marsh was out on loan at the time of the first game so isn’t eligible, that’s probably the fault of the management team though, i’d have thought?
Don’t know TBH. I would think specifically it would be someone in an Admin role but then it becomes why & who is responsible for the admin team etc. Ultimately it is the Senior management team responsible for processes in place and if there are no checks and measures in place to ensure we are compliant then that sits with the CEO.
Possibly, although its the FA so the rules are arcane. A suspended or injured player can play in the replay, but it looks like a player out on loan or signed can't. Marsh return was announced on the 6th, *after* the first round game but he wasn't in the York squad for their match against Chester - so they probably assumed he was ok.
I do find it a little bit strange that we even allowed him to play in the FA Cup. Most loan agreements stipulate against it
He didn't. But he wasn't eligible to play for us in the first round because he didn't return until after the first game. If he'd played in the second round it would have been fine (as it would if he'd been recalled a week earlier).
Marsh didn't play in the cup for York mate, he was still there at the time of the first match against horsham so wasn't eligible to play in the replay.
It’s the job of the Club Secretary - whose role and processes are formed by the club. So the processes weren’t robust enough, and for the first time in years, one has slipped through. I wouldn’t want to hound any person at the club for it though - mistakes happen, and I imagine whoever has done it, will be feeling bad enough about it without abuse on social media etc.
