I feel totally disconnected with the club. They will always be in my heart but what is there to be proud of?
PMG ripped the heart and soul out of this Club. Owners with no affinity to our town and the Club and the Crynes there as a token gesture.
No. Not really. We’re now a business. Many years ago, I remember folk on here welcoming the fact that in some new age of football, businessmen would be in charge. That would mean things would be run professionally and profitably. From my own experience of big business, I suspected that wouldn’t be the case. And so it has proved. RULE 1. Money is everything. In fact, it’s the ONLY thing. Whether they’re making it or losing doesn’t matter as long as they ‘talk the talk’ and convince everyone they are. RULE 2. Tell everyone what they want to hear. Very important this. Whatever you believe in, they’ll deliver. Because they’ve a plan. And even if it’s not working it will. Just wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. RULE 3. They don’t care about anything other than themselves. They do not see you as a fan or a customer. You are merely a revenue stream into their business project. RULE 4. Never explain RULE 5. Never apologise.
I'd pretty much disagree with all of those rules when it comes to BFC and the BFC board. Someone's made a fairly major individual mistake. We have been wanting on the communication side for sure this season. it feels like the CEO has gone AWOL some time ago. The silence on some issues has been deafening, and I think the club / next CEO really need to work on that. But to suggest that they only care about money or don't care about the fans is nonsense, in my opinion, and from what I've seen. I don't believe if you spoke to any of the board, you wouldn't get the impression that they don't care. Quite the opposite. I'm pretty sure we've heard them apologise as well. We've seen some issues this season. Getting kicked out of the FA Cup is a pretty massive cockup, but it's probably an individual mistake. The usual kneejerk overreaction to say everything is totally ***** is the usual response from the fan base. The reality is somewhere in between.
Obviously, I don’t work for the club. But I have worked with/for many businesses at close quarters who really did care. Or appeared to. Very convincingly. Until I found out that, behind closed doors, they didn’t.
I usually agrees with your balanced view Gally, however this is not a fairly major mistake, it is extremely major and significantly detrimental to us fans once again. What is going on behind the scenes is unknown but someone needs to be accountable and for me that person is the CEO who is responsible for the day to day running of the club. He needs to go now, the silence from him is deafening. Us fans deserve better!!
I would love to go to Oakwell again, but cannot due to health issues. Sadly I am feelingmore and more alienated because of the current board
The fact though mate that that you say 'usual' implies that it is a common occurrence, and that is what is alarming in recent times. If there's a hundred and one ways to shoot oneself in the foot, BFC would possibly find 102 ways.
Hex.com west stand Access to Oakwell Paul Conway Constant open day debacles the big news that we've never heard about merchandise shipping Oulare/Leya Iseka and now this. We are a tinpot laughing stock. No getting away from it. You can only put so much paper over the cracks.
Yes it was a mistake. But if i had made a mistake so big at my place of work i would have been without a job now. A head or heads have to roll
I’m losing interest big time mostly again to due to how it’s being run! I have a horrible feeling that by end of season we may be in admin, hopefully not and it’s my gut feeling
Someone needs sacking. We're a laughing stock and rightly so. No amount of glossing over can cover this level of incompetence.
