Maybe a Director of Loans would be a better appointment.

Nice to see you are good at forward thinking, bloody hell, why when a post like this comes up do we hark back to the same old names?

This is a good move, should have happened years ago. Let’s hope they appoint the right person.

Could be a good move although it's one thing to advertise a post and another to appoint the right person to do the job. Not sure, given the remit, it'd appeal to Colin who seems to want to get his hands dirty in a coaching role. I don't have a preferred candidate. That said, when I think back to Danny and the promotion side, Winnie was the wise old head alongside Danny. Not sure Collins can call on that kind of experience.

I'm guessing a young Austrian. Skiier. In a first appointment. Outside skiing.

    Marginal gains.

    Good move.

Probably acknowledgement that the current set up isn't working and the current remit of the CEO is too vast and too much for one individual.

It'll be interesting to see who is appointed and whether the club choose to promote from within. I would have thought this role would be a good progression for someone like Bobby Hassell (if he is interested).

Edit: Having read the job description and specifically the point relating to "Negotiate incoming and outgoing transfers and player contract offers." then I feel it's probably going to be an outsider and someone with some experience of finance.

I've been advocating this since we moved from manager to head coach. There's been no real football knowledge to bridge the gap between coaching staff and boardroom.

    Excellent move in my opinion

It's an interesting development. I'm intrigued as to what happens to the CEO role now as some of the things described in this look like part of that role (e.g. "Be a committed and visible presence at the stadium and club offices, mentoring and developing the club staff.") The role also reports directly to the Board so, if there is still to be a CEO in place, there's no direct reporting line between the two.

It's a much more 'football product' driven job description than for a typical CEO, but looks like it oversees all the departmental Heads.

Gut feel is that this is a replacement for the CEO role, with a different title and a different overall remit. I'm struggling to see how this role and that of a full time CEO sit alongside each other.
