Got to feel for them, just seen some clips, 1st half ball hits Newcastle players thigh onto arm, VAR review no pen, 3 mins into injury time ball hits Newcastle players chest and off his elbow, VAR review penalty given, corrupt. The Game at the top level is imploding, heard a wolves fan on talksh**e today saying fans giving up season tickets in droves. It's become unwatchable people sat up high making it up as they go along.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67543355 They had 31 shots, so it could be argued that a goal was coming and it shouldn't have taken so long.
But that's not a valid reason for a poor decsion are we really getting to the stage of give pens for the sake, without that poor decsion they win the game 1-0 and eliminate PSG if they beat Milan
I don’t think they should ever be pens. What on earth can Livramento do to avoid that? Should’ve been one of the greatest results in their history.
Are you suggesting that a referee should take how many shots a team has had into account when making a decision on if it’s a penalty or not??
It isn't. It's just really ***** referees. Look how many times Wolves have been shafted this season already, apology nearly every week. Completely understand why Gary O'neil is angry. I'd suggest they've lost even more than 7 points due to bad refereeing, I think that's a conversative number! Referees are just incredibly inconsistent. You can't call it corruption when it happens to every club, obviously some clubs have more bad decisions than others (I'd suggest us, 1000% last season) but when every club's fans are saying the same, it's fairly obvious corruption isn't the problem, competency is. I mean look at the offside for Liverpool when they played Spurs, a toddler could have made that call.
I'll be honest, I haven't seen it, but from what you've described and by the current rules, shouldn't both have been penalties? So if anything, Newcastle got away with one.
The only thing VAR is achieving is to prove how shockingly bad football referees are. It’s embarrassing.
Such a shame its happened to Newcastle, as their owners are such upstanding citizens with absolutely no record of being horrible.
I'll be honest, I haven't the faintest idea what the rules are now. There's so many major changes on such a regular basis.
Good. I’m over the moon with this. Proper football is played in the lower leagues. Not like the plastic sterile sh’t the Premiership and Champions league produce. Money has ruined everything I love about football. Hopefully those money laden clubs fk off to their own fantasy league and take rangers and Celtic with them leaving us to enjoy football like we used to 30 years ago.
Totally agree with the fact that fans are losing interest, said it two years ago that var and messing about with rules would kill the game as we know it.I dont blame refs most of the time even though they do make some unbelievable mistakes now and then.Var is making refs lazy, they think oh cant make me mind up on that so il just pass it on to them dummys in caravan. Then if there stuck they just pass it back and in the meantime the fans are bored rigid.
Absolutely robbed by a dogger decision. No way was it a penalty, chest to elbow and arm in a totally natural position. Another nail in the coffin that is my interest in football. It's become an absolute bag of to55.
Umpires in cricket have also been shown up by technology. I’m not saying you’re wrong but a lot of refs have had a lot of decisions taken out of their hands and we often criticise them after seeing replays a few times over when they have only seen them once in real life. Modern technology is and will always expose human error and sports governing bodies need to reach a compromise between the two
The difference in cricket though is that it's a binary decision. It's either hitting the stumps or not. Or it's either a no ball or not. Line calls. In football, useless refs are watching slowed down TV footage and deciding whether or not there's been an offence based on flimsy rules that change every year. I hate VAR.
In games without VAR you have a point, but in these big games the refs do have the benefit of seeing the replays from multiple angles etc.
They aren't poor little Newcastle punching above their weight/upsetting the establishment and if anyone buys into this you're part of the problem. Complaining about the corruption of the sport whilst being supportive of Newcastle is laughable. They are the establishment at this point - a cynical exercise in sportswashing first and foremost, and a football club second. If this was fixed in favour of PSG then it's only because they're above Newcastle in the dirty money and influence pyramid - if there is corruption leaking into decisions then Newcastle are going to be on the benefitting end of it more than the receiving end.
