If anyone has a bit of extra time to spare when we next play Wycombe away I’d recommend a visit to the Hell Fire Caves on the edge of West Wycombe. The notorious club of the same name met there over 200 years ago where, no doubt, a fair bit of paid-for slapping went on. Any ex-miners would have no trouble traversing the 260 metres of underground passages and it really is an interesting place. Up above is the open air mausoleum dedicated to the Dashwood family and there are terrific views from up there. It was a good trip on my bike from Princes Risborough - only about seven miles. I miss those rolling Chiltern Hills now that I’m in rural, completely flat east of York country.
