    I would have thought that blistering was normally associated with heat but perhaps it’s got different interpretations

    I thought blistering was just a way of describing an extreme, and not necessarily associated just with heat.

    Blisteringly hot i.e. hot enough to cause blisters on painted surfaces, skin etc.

    Feels like we’ll take any opportunity to moan at something the club put out. Its a pretty common phrase.

    Also, don’t the club give local students work experience opportunities to write for the U21s/18s. I don’t expect it’s nice to have some your first published reports singled out especially for no good reason (imho)

    Don't be so touch Gally... that must have taken some finding because virtually every dictionary refers to blistering heat... I doubt anyone would have commented if they had known bairns were writing it.

    Aye, I know that. But as I say, I think it's a term to describe an extremity, rather than specifically referring to blistering caused by heat.

    I’ve worked either as a professional writer or editor for the last 10 years and I see nothing wrong with it. Also, if it’s good enough for the New Yorker or the New York Times or The Guardian, I think we’re alright…

    Some folk will burn the club for anything. Give them a break, especially the staff responsible for writing reports on the website ffs.

    I've got to disagree to some extent Gally. Having just read the article it's clear that the writer has almost no clue how to use a comma. I've read worse but it's not great. This is stuff that is being put out in the club's name. Why we have kids writing match reports is a mystery to me but, if that's the case, then surely they would be better to mention that in a byline.
    Whatever the club put out should look 100% professional or an indication should be given as to why it may not be.

    The report doesn't say blisteringly though. If you look up blistering in the same dictionary there's no mention of it applying to cold. More to heat and speed.
