Just read about both rejecting deals so far. It's looking bleak come transfer window unless replacements sorted. Of course it could be brinkmanship but you never know. Up to the director of football now I guess.
They are both still under contract until June. The chances are they will leave then - they can leave earlier but only if someone makes an offer for them. So yes, they will both need replacing - but probably not until June (although it wouldn't hurt if we could get the replacements in earlier if they are from a lower league so they can get up to speed).
No surprise really, both will be holding on until the summer to see if they can get a better deal, whether here or elsewhere.
Neither were ever going to accept new deals. Neither is Kane, and I doubt Cadden will be here next season either, unless we somehow get promoted.
Not sure why anyone would expect them to sign one TBH. Out of contract in Summer until we know what league we are in they won’t actually know what they are signing up for. Yes I’m sure contracts may well say XX for Championship YY for L1 but would anyone sign risking lower L1 offer.
Are people suprised? Like already said I can't see kane, Cole, Williams or cadden been here next season.
There's part of me that's glad as daft as it sounds. I think we've gone stale. A jolt like several first team players leaving should wake the board up. I'll not lose any sleep whatsoever over Kane, Williams or Cole. And before anyone comes back with the obvious "cole and his 11 goals" or whatever, he's been poor for weeks as well. Get some fees for the want-aways in Jan, new CEO in, new DOF in, chalk this season off and build for a proper go next year. We're carrying too many players who believe that they're bigger and better than the club, Kane being the prime example.
It went shockingly, what's the point? As far as I can see, the last window was run by Khaled. This one will be run by our acting DOF, Bobby Hassell. I'd put money on Hassell having a far better idea of what is required than Khaled. I'd be willing to give him a window. It can't get much worse than the last one.
If we sell them then that's more in the kitty and Cole certainly looks off the boil now. sadly indicative of the club at present that two of our perceived best players may want to exit the club. and if they go in January I don't see us looking to replace..probably mid table finish with them gone so looking at next season to start again..
Easy to blame the man who's gone.. Whoever comes in to do the deals, you still have the same recruitment team and the same people holding the purse strings.
Still can't believe we gave captaincy to someone unwilling to commit with a new contract, coming in to their last year.
