A nice 4/5 year deal if we can, get him some regular game time and maybe/hopefully a promotion to his name and he’ll go for something eye watering. That is if the people in the offices at Oakwell ever stop trying to shove crayons up their noses.
For me he is old enough and good enough to be getting some serious game time now. That would also hopefully make him more likely to stay
Anyone know how he ended up with us? What's his story? Seems he was at Benfica from the age of 8 and then moves to Barnsley when he was 13. Why? Family moved here or did we scout him over there or what?
I think the kid had been handled well tbf. Coming off the bench and slowly building up to more. Thats how to do it. No pressure on him, just go and do your thing.
What's the deal if he leaves, do you know? Are we entitled to compo due to this age / academy status etc?
That's his academy/youth whatever one though isn't it? And his real professional one will kick in when that's over? Or have I misunderstood it
Dunno, but didn't we turn down a six figure fee from a Serie A club in the last window? Rumour has it amongst others, Leeds, Sunderland, Fulham, Everton, Brighton and......Sporting Lisbon are interested. Dont know if we get compo, but if his contracts out end of this season and he can leave for nowt then, we'll be selling him for summat in January.
https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2022/july/fabio-jalo-pro-deal/ Strangely doesn't say how long, but a 2 year one would be up this season
Jalo signed a pro contract last year. My understanding is if he goes abroad we get nowt, if he signs for an English club we'll get compo. Hopefully he signs a three year contract and we sell him to Brighton for £10m +25% sell on.
I'm going with this site....... https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2023/person/2000217982/fabio-jalo Says he's contracted till 2025 and he's currently worth £9m. Also says he's on £180 (a week?), which would be a bit tight even for us, so I'm a bit dubious as to its accuracy.
