The first half was poor again imo, the second half was like watching a totally different team, I’d like to think it was Collins’s half time talk that did it but if so why have we been playing so poor over the last month? We clearly have the squad to do the business but yet we’ve been playing an absolutely boring brand of football……..I’m lost if I’m been honest

    Jalo.
Specifically, Jalo's ability to be in the right space and able to control balls put forward by Connell

Saw an interesting stat. Apparently we have the best second half record in the league. Both at Lincoln last league game and Reading yesterday our second half performance was miles better than our first. I’m wondering if especially for away games Collins sets us up to be cautious in the first half then attack more in the second half
Putting on Jalo was the catalyst yesterday though

Difference was we got the ball forward quicker. Some great diagonal balls in behind from both Connell and Phillips. Jalo’s pace made a difference too.

Phillips sprang to life then Jalo came on. Massive improvement from Luca as well. I hope it was the half time team talk.

Just going to post this....I kind of did yesterday.
Got the ball forward far quicker...most defences aren't that great in this league and it caused the problems.

Just wonder if anyone has stats on how many times we gave the ball away in the first half of the last few games? The difference yesterday was that we kept it more in the second half,
Credit we’re credits due well managed yesterday

It’s what we did last season and for some reason have stopped this term. Like you say, it causes problems for most L1 defences.

In the second half the pitch seemed to get much bigger. In the first half there was a Reading player on Barnsley players immediately. No space at all. In the second half that disappeared. There was space everywhere.

Just read a comment from the Reading manager who said,"we know they are more powerful in the middle part of the game".So it appears other clubs know what to expect but don't always know how to deal with it.
