Exactly. I didn't watch yesterday as had family stuff on, but it sounds like the second half performance was very decent, as was Lincoln.

Neill Collins isn't an idiot. He can't for one second believe that a lot of the football we've played this season has been particularly good to watch. However, the results can't really be argued with, despite losing the best midfielder in the division and a championship quality goalie to long term injuries, and a £10 million defence. Ten million pounds worth of defensive talent. I haven't checked, but I'm guessing that if we take out the clubs who've recently been in the Championship, £10 million would be the combined transfer fees paid to assemble most squads in League 1 put together.

If Neill Collins was at any other club getting the same results under similar circumstances, I bet my bottom dollar that plenty on here would be lauding him as a managerial genius, and someone who we should be seriously considering as our next appointment.

I can't imagine the whole team decided to risk getting in to trouble by ignoring the bosses orders and going in to business for themselves. I think that discredits that maybe Collins how realises the way we expect our team to play.

Add the second half against Wycombe, and the first half vs Blackpool in the cup. We're definitely playing well in spells, we've to try and do it for 90 minutes though now. I do think our slight upturn in form has coincided with Connell coming back.

To be clear its not my view that the players chose to disregard Collins and go their own way

Fair enough. The players no doubt will hate being asked to play a way they won't want to play. If the plays were asked I am sure they would all If down to them play more attacking.

He was repeating what someone put in the Matchday Thread - someone posted that it must have been the players who ignored Collins and went off script.

I’d agree, the division is rubbish.
    I’ve said I don’t think we’re brilliant.
However, some of the toy throwing has been off the scale. Particularly after the Bradford match.
Surely, the aim is to get promoted. We’re not a million miles off.

You'd hope those that make those decisions decide to spend a % of it in the next transfer window in an attempt to not be in this league again next season. Also try to avoid selling our best players on the last day would be a plan, so we have a chance of replacing them.

Ta. I was looking for something in this thread. I have seen some very boring negative football this season and in my view was the lack of midfield options to support transition from defence to attack QUICKLY which as been our approach of choice over recent years. Connell coming back as seen a slight improvement in this area, but like yesterday Connell was poor first half but better 2nd hence the result IMHO.

We're still 5hite to watch and the 100 mile round trip for home games, in the winter weather, is difficult to muster any enthusiasm for.

Ooh, that's mine! I stand by it. I'm not suggesting there's any on-field collective decision by the players, or a signal given during a break in play to change tack. I just think like in any walk of life, when things aren't going well or frustration is setting in, you'll try something different. Nobody ever played Sunday League and thought '******** to this, I'm gonna have a crack' if you're losing the game? I'll stress, it's just my opinion, an impression I get watching this side, that every now and again they'll break out of the dour, stultifying stuff they set out with and just play with a bit more freedom, more enjoyment. Maybe Collins is instructing them to do that - if so, then fair play and let's try it from the first minute now & again.

Do we know exactly how many sails, and how much wind was taken out of each? I think only then will we be able to gauge the magnitude of what has happened.

Not sure that beating the bottom of the league makes the argument either way.

it’s just a drop in the ocean surely.

People keep talking about our former £10 million defence BUT that is only because Coventry valued Liam Kitching at £5 million (did anybody else?) and Bobby Thomas was a loanee whose asset value to Tarn was £0.
