Saw them for the 4th time tonight, 25 years after the 3rd time. Still got it and then some. Brett Anderson can certainly move for a 56 year old former smack addict!

Definitely a unique band. Not seen them since back in the day. I always liked their second album, which got mixed reviews at the time.

I saw them a few times in the 90s and again a few years ago in Leeds. Great band and Brett is one of the best frontmen I’ve seen. I’m starting to take my lad to gigs now. He’s 13, but taller than me. We saw The Charlatans last week. And Sophie Ellis-Bextor, but she’s someone we always go and see (although I much preferred seeing her in smaller venues 10 years ago, before she got so popular again). The boy is developing a Beatles obsession, around the same age that I did.

I want to take him to see more guitar bands in smaller venues though, so I’ll take him to see Suede the next time they tour. He’s really getting into music. He plays the bass and the piano, and teaching himself guitar and harmonica. I think he’s gonna be one of those kids who can get a tune out of anything. Makes me jealous, cos music is such a big part of my life, but when it comes to playing an instrument I didn’t get any further than the comb and piece of paper!

I saw Sophie Ellis Bextor as an unknown with The audience in the Sheffield Foundry and she blew me away. She's touring some reasonably small venues in Europe in spring so might take my daughter to one of those. She's 12 and is also hugely into her music. She's a really good pianist but unfortunately much prefers singing, which she's crap at!

If your son's getting into the Beatles, then I'd definitely suggest a Bootleg Beatles show. Think they're playing Nottingham next Saturday actually.

They actually played Sheffield last week and I considered it, but thought 3 gigs in 5 days might have been a bit much for him. I’m also a bit skint and baulked at the idea of paying £80 for 2 tickets to see a tribute band. I’ll probably take him next time they tour though.

I saw them myself at Earl’s Court nearly 30 years ago, when they supported Oasis. The show ended with Oasis and the Bootleg Beatles on stage, with an orchestra, doing a very rowdy rendition of I Am The Walrus, which was a bit bizarre, to say the least!

I saw the old incarnation supporting Oasis in 95 and they were okay. Went to see the current lot at Sheffield last year with @Chef Tyke and our families and was blown away. The show is incredible, with the songs note-perfect and the attention to historical detail spot on. If you'd told me I'd fallen into a wormhole and was at a real Beatles concert, I'd have probably believed you. Worth every penny, especially considering how much arena gigs cost these days. Wanted to go again this year but was busy last Friday and the Nottingham gig clashes with a very good Smiths tribute band playing 5 minutes down the road from me for a tenner!

I'm not usually into tribute bands by the way, but the chances of seeing either the original Smiths or Beatles live are quite slim!

I saw the Bootleg Beatles recently at the Old Woollen in Farsley. First time since the early 90s. Totally different line up, unsurprisingly, but they were as you describe - note perfect.

I'd guess that the second band you describe are The Smiths Ltd? Saw the end of their set a couple of years ago and was very impressed (less so with the audience members, as it felt like something of a BNP convention.

One of the best live bands from back in the day still touring are The Wonder Stuff. Saw them in Manchester on Friday for the second time in a few weeks and they never fail to put on a great show.

Been through a few incarnations Wonderstuff now, but as long as Miles & Erica are there it still seems to keep its vibe.

Engine Shed is a decent venue and surprising who they get in at times.
Suede not my thing but underrated group of their time.

Saw Wonderstuff a few times back in the day - including their "last ever" gig, but not since they reformed. Maybe next time although it seems strange with 2 of the original band dead :(

It was the first time I'd been there and it's very good. I was hoping it would be a bit smaller but it's certainly not overwhelming. Overall very impressive apart from the bar prices (see separate thread!)

Smiths Utd. One letter difference! Checked them out on YouTube and they sound very good.

Seen them twice since the return both really was just the two of them, first one was Lincolnshire Showground on a wet Saturday afternoon and left very disappointed TBH, second time couple of months later was in a pub in Birmingham and thought they were excellent.

I've struggled to get into Autofiction. Hopefully seeing quite a lot of it live will help me to revisit it.
