I get that but I've seen a few on social media thinking we have these funds available when in reality we don't, especially when the owners are still pumping money in to cover the day to day

We don’t need to spend big money in January if no one major leaves. We need an experienced centre half and a goalkeeper, assuming Roberts is going back to Boro.
Possibly a second centre half if we can offload McCarthy and maybe loan out Shepherd.

I think the comparison with last season is a bit misleading. Last season we were coming off the back of one of the worst seasons in the history of the club, one in which we won just 6 times, lost 28 and had a -40 goal difference. We'd also changed manager twice during the season, not including the caretakers. The confidence of most of our players (I exclude Carlton Morris) was shot - they looked a shadow of the previous season for example. As a result I think it was always going to take some time to recover and rebuild and having done that momentum really built. That shouldn't have been the case this season. Yes, we lost key players but overall confidence in the squad should've been high. I get that arguably the impact of the players lost is considerable but I think we're probably underperforming this season and unless we have a very good January window, I don't expect the second half of the season to be anywhere near as good as last. I hope to be proven wrong of course!

I feel the opposite wt.I think we'll kick on.
There seemed to be a massive togetherness at Reading and that can go a long way in this division.

Keep Roberts (and get him fit) and sign a dominant centre back and I think I’d be happy. Luca is more and more involved now so kind of feels like a new signing. Jalo too.

I’d love some contract extensions too but I can’t see any of the players out of contract extending with us, just yet at least.

I really hope you're right and I'm wrong @Brian Mahoneys Waist - I'd love you to remind me of this when we win promotion at the end of the season!

I agree with you that it is not as bad as many people make out. I would also put Oli Shaw in the same bracket as your Andy Dallas comment.
