We went to the Civic on Sunday to watch the Cinderella Pantomime. Every time we’ve been to the Civic it’s been a terrific experience and excellent value for money.
I had a meal with the missus in Botanist a few months ago and it was good, though a bit pricey. Got the bill and the waiter warned us not to add a tip as "we've already added it on". I know that's the norm in many places, but I don't agree with it, I'll decide for myself how much to tip, if anything. We've not been in since. They've lost a few hundred pounds of our business by charging us more than stated on the menu.
Did the same with us, young lass told us about the service charge and asked us if we wanted it removed, we thanked her for telling us but left it on.
Ahhh, Now then, I'm talking about the place I work, as far as I'm concerned it was mad. As for the rest of the town........a dunno
At least they told you. I once doubled tipped in London after not checking the bill. To be fair they'd been exceptional and had served us despite the kitchen having been about to close when we arrived, so I didn't feel too resentful!
Glad your place was busy. Just needs more people to get out there and support the town because I see no reason why it isn't all rammed. It's a fantastic town to be proud of
Remember back in the 80's town was always dead after 4 o'clock - would meet my mum from work and shops were empty. Was the case on a Saturday as well - worked in market and no one was around after 4. It's why I was shocked when I moved to Liverpool as it was always full past that time. My daughters notices same about Barnsley when they went shopping
