Wizard of Oz is Easter surely. Along with Mary Poppins, Ben hur and the sound of music

Ben Hur on one of Freeview box sets. Full movie (new one). Is it about Moses?

As a kid (in the mid-late 70s) I remember Oz being shown more at Christmas, and so was Ben Hur, and a Bond film too lol.

In a similar vein, it's not Christmas until I've seen an Elvis film.

The main film shown on TV just before Christmas when I was growing up seemed to be oliver.

The problem with so many channels and all the streaming services is that none of them actually try very hard at Christmas anymore like they used to because they know people will just stick netflix on anyway

I've never really got into any of the variations of Scrooge. I like the story but never really enjoyed any of the movies that much

Ben Hur is a rich Jew who is enslaved when accused of an assassination attempt on a Roman leader. Nowt to do with Moses.

It's a really good film. And if you're looking for old films, someone mentioned Zulu earlier in the thread, if you've not seen it I recommend it, quality film.

I have a memory of the Christmas Day morning film always being "Digby, The Biggest Dog In The World."

I didn't know what to expect when I first watched it but its now an annual watch for me - wife hates it so that's another big plus!

On a similar but not Xmas note (70's horror) have you seen 'Let's Scare Jessica to Death'? Weird, spooky and creepy - another excellent watch. One of Kim Newman's favourites too.

Looking at my Letterboxd database I have seen it but cant really remember it. 70s horror is the best though. from the obvious classics to all the Italian Giallo. A golden period
