But we got the draw. Think it was a fair result and happy enough. Grateful to have Connell and Roberts back playing!
Remember this fixture last season, it was very similar then. Fans on here said how good Charlton looked, but they didn't have the killer instinct up front, and we gained a rather flattering win. And up until they scored today, I thought it was going to be the same again. I'm annoyed, but I think we've got to accept and appreciate that draw/point today.
Two fundamental mistakes from Collins cost us the win. It was obvious from minute 1 that at least one goal would come down the side that Williams and Okeeefe were defending yet he kept both of them on the whole game and lo and behold they equalised whilst attacking that side of the defence. Second mistake was taking Kane off and dropping Mcatee to play in kanes position and putting watters on. If he had left Mcatee where he was I am certain he would have scored the winner. Watters did not look threatening at all when he came on.
Hey Least, by the sounds of it, you've really hit the nail on the head there with that description. I'm frustrated as well with Jordan right now, he's going through a poor phase. Do we blame him, or do we blame Neil for messing him about!.
Neil 100% and the recruitment team who have signed a bunch of players all apparently so bad that nobody at the club has any faith in them to play
For the first point, do you think it would have been any better if it were Williams and Cotter on that side?
This is where appalling recruitment by our club comes home to roost. Neither o'keefe or Cotter are good enough. These signings were punts in the hope that they would be good enough but I don't think they are. Ideally Williams would be right-wing back with an experienced, quick centre back- which we didn't sign in the summer-and should have!!
Whats he supposed to do? Bring Cotter on to shore up the defence? The squad is ***** mate. Collins is dour and uninspiring but he can't make average players into good ones.
How bad must Conor McCarthy be when he can't even make this squad? Not to mention the permanently injured Jason Cundy, there must be something wrong there beyond what we've been told.
No but he ought to be able to organise a defence and get a midfield of that calibre to control a game.
Think a draw was a fair result in the end. We had plenty of chances but that doesn’t count for much if you don’t score them! Glad we got back ok. When Will started the car the engine light came on and car stalled after a few seconds. It came on and stayed on second time of asking but engine light still on. It drove back fine thankfully and when we checked it with our OBD2 machine it said it’s a fault with injector 4 so we’ve got that to fix tomorrow. At least it happened now and not at Christmas though when we’ve got a lot of miles to cover!
Pretty sure we beat them comvincing last season there on loan winger had a good game and they missed some chances 1st half but we deserved to win last season.
Indeed. Proper coaching can make average players into a good defensive unit. Creativity and goalscoring are a different matter.
My thoughts. Charlton pressed and made it difficult for Barnsley from the off. Similar to Reading the week before. That was ultimately unsustainable and in the second half it was more comfortable for Barnsley. Going in at half time one down must have been a real body blow to them after that first half performance. We have to be thankful the ref rewarded Herbie's tenacity by giving him the benefit of doubt in the corner. Credit to the pass and finish mind you. It was 'lucky' but well earned. That said Charlton's pace continued to cause problems and if Alfie May wasn't so greedy, opting to take blocked shot after blocked shot instead of passing to someone open in the box it could have been so much worse for Barnsley. But then again, if some of the Barnsley chances in front of the Ponty went in the three points would have been safe. Fair result if a bit frustrating to concede a lead. I agree Barnsley look all at sea down the right. Bringing in a star for the RWB position in January could be the key.
JamDrop we were coming back from Cornwall earlier this year when on the M5 fast lane the engine just lost power it was fun trying to get back on hard shoulder.Anyway came back on a flat bed AA and taken to a garage. The fault was 3 injectors had come loose and just wanted tightening up.Garage said they have seen 2 come loose but never 3.Just thought it was worth checking.
Right ok, we've Williams Cotter O'Keeffe and the lad on loan at Gateshead all to keep paying for.. And you'd trust our recruitment team to bring in another RWB..
