Remember when Sheff Utd sacked Hecky, installed Wilder, then immediately beat Chelsea away. Oh sorry, my mistake. It's like their squad is completely I'll equipped for the Premier League and whoever is in charge is on a hiding to nothing.
yes , he is a Barnsley fan and unfortunately his own personal ambition and what the powers be at Oakwell can offer is a million miles away,
What you on about they sacked hecky stopped getting hammered week in week out conceding stupid amounts of goals even getting beat 5 nil by Burnley. Wilders 1st game they played really well against Liverpool and then beat Brentford at home and got there 1st clean sheet of the season. I'm not saying there going to stay up but at least the score lines aren't as embarrassing.
Site Admin told you to knock it off the other week because you were spoiling it for others. And I've had PM's from a few posters telling me to avoid you because you've been horrible and abusive to them. I'll be the bigger man.
Funny that I've had same about you from posters saying if people don't take your view your belittling and abusive.
Thank you Redrum. Have a great evening, you magical person. Don't spoil it for others, this is a thread about Paul Heckingbottom. Please leave me alone. Thank you.
He’s got a job lined up for after Christmas by the sounds, a mate of mine is good pals with him and there’s been a few chats with a club already. Ps, it isn’t YoungNudger and the chat didn’t occur in the woods
He was at the Bolton game in the play offs & the Wednesday game when we bet them 4-2. I think he stayed out of the way for a bit after joining Leeds but I’d like to think there’s no idiots that would still be holding a grudge against him 6 years on.
Whilst you’re right they aren’t getting battered the big problem is they’ve got nothing going forward. Liverpool were that comfortable at 1-0 they took Salah off & rested him which never happens unless Klopp perceives the game as dead. It took a wonder goal from distance to beat a Brentford side in free fall missing Mbuemo. If Wilder keeps them up he deserves manager of the season. The highest I can see them finishing is 19th above Burnley but I still think 20th is most likely.
Liverpool are top of the league beating them when he had took over 2 days earlier was always going to be a tough ask. Like I said Brentford was there 1st clean sheet of the season and they were deserved winners. Chelsea away was always going to be a tough ask but like said at least the scorelines aren't as embarrassing. Hecky had to go according to Sheffield united fans I spoke to lost the dressing room and the Burnley defeat to a relegation rival was shocking.
I get the impression he wouldn’t come back here now. It’s been a bit bleak seeing him at Leeds and the blades after his love in with us when he was here. He’ll be at Wednesday at some point. Would obviously have him back though
Two ways at looking at Hecky, the positive view: First managerial post guided Barnsley to promotion after an amazing run and play off victory. Undermined by owners who sold his best players from under him and left at the earliest opportunity. Joined Leeds, a club in disarray, and wasn’t given time to rebuild. Joined Hibs but tried to change things too quickly and results suffered which resulted in his dismissal. Spent time out of the game and came back to coaching at Sheff Utd, stepped up to the top job and guided Sheff Utd to an unlikely promotion but yet again suffering with the owners selling his best two players just before the season started. Struggled with the step up to the premier league and paid the price of a weak squad with his dismissal. Negative view Took over from Lee Johnson at Barnsley inherited a winning team and changed very little. Struggled to adapt in the Championship and became more stubborn in his approach. Left as a result of a breakdown of the relationship with the owners and poor results. Took over a Leeds team who he described needed a number of signings to be competitive in the championship, succeeded by Bielsa who took the same team to promotion to the premier league. With Hibs he failed to understand the standard of the SPL bringing in sub standard English players who struggled along with trying to change things far too quickly. Sacked in role and not able to get another managerial job after two abject failures. Took a Sheff Utd squad with one of the biggest playing budgets to the premier league but struggled to adapt to the higher quality in the premier league. The truth is probably some way between the two. He comes across as a decent bloke and I hope he is successful wherever he ends up, apart from when playing against us.
The inherited Johnson’s team line is one of these myths that gets repeated that often people think it’s true. Soon after he took over he lost 3 of the back 4 & then 5 of the first team changed again in the summer.
