    Have that Joey Barton.
And meanwhile, F’ck off to all those football experts saying that female keepers are rubbish.

Women can only play within the boundaries they have been set.

What a joke. You used to have to win something to win SPOTY. Now you've a losing finalist and someone part of a team that only drew an home Ashes series in the top two.

I think you’ll find plenty of “near winners” in the past.

With the public deciding via voting out of the nominations Earps was always going to win as she has been constantly in the press and public eye for over a year now.

Ask the people who voted for her?

With respect Fired. Did you think she was a worthy winner. Very good goalie but My vote went to Katerina Johnson Thompson. Who achieved proper star status. With her latest Gold medal. And against the odds.

I’d have been happy if she won it tbh. Her achievements are brilliant, and will probably go largely unrecognised.
Sadly she will be behind in the profile queue. It’s not right either. :-(

Personally I was hoping for an Alfie Hewitt win, but expected Broad to win it. My own top 2 was Hewitt and KJT, I couldn't choose a 3rd place. But fair play to Earps, it's voted for by sports fans, so she is the chosen winner.

Yep, amazed the press never really grabbed her comeback story culminating in the fantastic gold and made more of it.

She'll win it when she gets a fastest loser spot.

In terms of sporting wins it’s very difficult to see past Hewitt, unfortunately for him wheelchair tennis gets very little publicity.

Mind boggling how they manoeuvre and make the bounce of the ball. It's an art form.

    This, this & this!

And whilst I get Fired's sentiments, I reckon it will only fuel Barton and his ilk. But as mentioned above, she's a very well known figure nowadays and has been spoken about in the media consistently over past 12/18 months - it's always been somewhat of a popularity contest. It's a shame we didn't win the world cup because I reckon it would have been fairly cut & dry then. Not really sure what those on twitter who are berating the BBC are on about, it's a public vote
