I wouldn’t. She’s way above him and he is only after profile. She should let him continue his whining.
Aren't these views and singling me out equally extreme? Whether right or wrong. You're coming across as a bully.
I didn't single you out at all. I criticised Joey Barton. I didn't mention you or refer to you at all yet you CHOSE to reply to me so I said I wasn't surprised about that response based on your recent posting history. If you think that's singling you out or bullying you then i think you're sadly mistaken.
We're all people . We all want to feel respect and recognition for what we do. Think of it like love, loving one child doesn't mean you can't love subsequent children the same, and also see and appreciate new things like them loving and bonding with each other. Women's equality doesn't have to take away from anybody, only really insecure folk would think that.
I'd say it's you that has the "us against them" attitude - coming into a thread about a woman winning sports personality of the year and complaining it's too "in your face" and "women's lib".
Congratulations to Mary Earps! This linking of JB and Mary Earps is spurious and reminiscent of the Billie Jean King/Bobby Riggs (sp) fiasco. Look at the contribution King has made and is still making to Tennis - what became of Riggs? Congratulations also to Fatima Whitbread - SPOTY winner in 1987 and winner of Helen Rollason Award 2023. She spoke eloquently and with passion at the Awards Ceremony about her work for Children in Care.
Why do you say rugby Union is struggling? It is in Australia, mainly because of the competition from Aussie Rules, League and Cricket being so popular. They sacked their CEO recently and appointed ex-Wallaby Phil Waugh, so let's see what the future holds. The regional competitions, i.e. Six Nations and Rugby Championship are still popular, and from 2025 will be merged into a global competition. The Rugby World Cups have all been successes, as have the Rugby Sevens Series, which changed format this year to the SVNS Series (covering both Male and Female competitions).
I think the clue that many seem to be missing is in the question - the award is for Sports PERSONALITY of the Year, and on that basis Ms Earps is clearly a worthy winner.
Isn’t it normally someone who has captured the public’s attention in a positive way? Generally someone who even most non sporty people have heard of because of something they have done in their sport. Mary saved the penalty in the final and won the Golden Glove which got a lot of people talking about her and she did the campaign around her shirt release which then sold out within 15 minutes of going on sale.
No criticizing DJ Thunder Muscle. Any ex-sportsman who can support Blur for 2 nights in front of 90,000 probably has more personality than his 80s public image suggested...
I find it amazing that anyone bought that ‘intelligent philosophiser’ ******** he tried to portray. He now seems to be intent on getting a job as a presenter on GB News. Horrible man.
