The only thing I disagree with in your post is I don't think Collins has been given enough time yet. Your other points are fair.
A bit of a hit and miss first half that. So many times once again where the quality disappears when the ball gets near the area. Mis-controls, scuffed shots, over hit passes. Finally McAtee delivered something that didn't lack quality. Long overdue. It is clear Barnsley can go on and win this but it is also clear that if they keep pratting around with it at the back it will be no points.
Imho...entertaining first half and we have played some decent footy in patches. As we knew they are very direct and very good in the dark arts....They will continue to cause us problems but I think we can football them but need to be sharper around the box. Best player so far...Styles by a street mile...Cole and Williams just not at it.
On the whole not a bad half of football. Great finish by mcatee probably should have scored again when Cole put him through. Hopefully we can get the win here.
Well goal aside we are looking terrible. There is no leadership, no drive, no teamwork at all on show, we’re looking like we’ve put a squad together within 24 hrs before the game. I can’t for the life of me think why we’re persisting with Williams at centre back, O Keefe is poor, and Phillips is not up to the pace this season, what on earth has happened there? Connell & Mcattee the only players realising you have to play forward to stand a chance of scoring. 2nd half; Lopata on, O Keefe off Jalo on, Phillips off
Apart from a wonder goal recently, I don't think Cole has offered much since his purple patch. I'm not one of those who doesn't think he tries, or he is lazy, but he's not offering much. He runs around a lot and closes down, but with the little service he has had (part of the problem), he has not done anything to convert into a goal.
I don't think it was as bad as your saying I've seen far worse this season. I agree about Williams though.
Whether they are good/bad at the horrible dark arts, I have to say Stevenage are the surprise team of the season so far. Isn't this their first ever visit to Burnsley ?.
Stevenage seem to have a novel approach. They keep putting teasing balls into our box at every opportunity. We should try that. I’m looking forward to seeing Jálo in the 94th minute.
