Second time we've had Mr Edwards this season, and we've won them both. I thought he let too much go when we had him vs Burton, but yesterday I thought he gave some odd decisions, albeit none that altered the course of the game.
Thought he was poor let far too much pushing and holding go which favoured Stevenage as the bigger and rougher side. Until Cosgrove can on the they were still allowed to pull and hold him but if he was too strong he gave them the foul Failed to play advantage at least twice when we were breaking to come back for trips Never let us take a quick throw in and almost lost control of the game. could have sent Connel off for a scissor tackle even though he got the ball but would have been harsh considering how he let them go though us several times without even giving a foul let alone a card We have had worse but he wasn’t great wavering between 3 and 4 and in the end gave a 4 /10
Poor performance, everyone likes to see games flow but he allowed Stevenage to manhandle us all afternoon in what was a physical game, several times their forward followed through when our defender had cleared the ball and he ignored it. Cosgrove gave us a more physical option and was immediately penalised , the late decision to disallow the goal was a joke but fortunately didn't cost us the points
Don't usually criticise referees but his interpretation of the challenges between Cosgrove and their defence he got wrong every time imho. And I don't understand what happened when he stopped the game because Kane stayed down. Firstly, Kane wasn't injured. He got hit in the face with the ball and I'm sure that hurt, but he wasn't injured. The game shouldn't have been stopped, Kane should have got back up. If he wants to roll about on the ground then we have to deal with the consequences of that. Secondly, Stevenage had the ball. When the game restarted we were given the ball. I don't understand that decision. If that's what the referee is supposed to do then the game itself is stupid.
Ref as no option ,when players deliberately hold their head on the ground, kane had a bloody nose which is not an head injury, I hate to see any players do this, it's cheating.
He stopped the game because Kane had a head injury. As he was in his own area, play is restarted by the defending team's goalkeeper. Odd rule, but he followed it correctly.
Not certain, but ref stopped game when Cole kicked it away. However it landed to a Stevenage striker and that's what their argument was
Cosgrove was fouled quite a lot yesterday but because he cries every time someone goes near him the ref had already got it into his head that he's a cheat so didn't give him the actual fouls. Boy who cried wolf. He also got away with quite a few fouls by him because every time he goes for a ball he's got his hands all over the opposition. Another reason why the ref probably doesn't give him owt.
Very fussy referee, a few occasions he could’ve played on and let the game flow but he was too quick with the whistle. Had to laugh at a couple of challenges on Cosgrove, one where their player threw him to the ground and still had a handful of his shirt and ref just shook his head and gave nothing. He was shouting and gesturing for our players to get on with the game before the ball had been retrieved from the crowd. Would give a 3.5, so I’ll round it up to a 4
Wasn't kane outside of the box too though? It's 24 hours and I can barely remember what happened 5 minutes ago but the image I've got in my head is kane laid down on the edge of the D.
I'll be honest, I only assumed he was, as the ref gave Roberts the ball back. I don't remember without looking though.
I have him as middle of the road. He didn’t get anything major wrong and despite Stevenage ‘tactics’ tried to keep the game flowing.
It could be argued that Kanes head was in the area when it was hit with the ball, hence the dropped ball to the goalie.
