We were awful from the start abject awful lacklustre, was truly dire the players looked like they’d been on lash
Was an awful game to watch. Was bored from a few minutes in me. Left with 15 minutes to go, both teams were rubbish.
He's bang on with everything he says EXCEPT that he should point out the turning point of the game was his team completely stopping playing and for absolutely no reason waving the white flag with half an hour to go.
Didn't look like 2 teams fighting for the play offs. Mcatees moment of class and a big defelction helped us massively. It's not great to watch but we're still in and around the play offs.
For a Club of Stevenage’s size to achieve what they are doing is outstanding. If you’re travelling the distance that their fans were yesterday you want to see good organisation, commitment and passion from your players. They certainly got that yesterday and yes, very unfortunate to leave without a point. As for us - dear me. Dreadful …..again. The only saving grace was that once we’d worked out we had to scrap for the points rather than playing our usual ‘Barcelona style’ then the players did role up their sleeves. Good to see but I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of football breaking out for more than 5 minutes per match.
To be fair he does say we are a club with a big fan base and big resources but the best team lost and they got undone by a long ball and class finish.
Thanks for that. No wonder he doesn't like us....Thought it was promotion form against his clubs, but surprised we haven't played them more.
The continuing absence of Lopata is baffling. He was playing very well before the injury and the sooner he is back in there the better
I didn’t detect any ‘it’s only little Stevenage they are the ‘ Black Sheep’ attitude from our players or fans. Evan’s has always been a poor loser. Ultimately is was their having that lack of quality that cost them the game
The agricultural hoof that 1980s Wimbledon perfected, where you just hit and hope, was ‘long ball’. Styles hit an inch perfect pass to McAtee. Just because it was a long distance doesn’t make it a ‘long ball’, in the sense that Evans is being dismissive of. Had Paul Scholes, Kevin de Bruyne, Steven Gerrard, etc made such a pass it would have been raved about. Methinks Evans needs to get out his football manager’s dictionary and re-read a few definitions!
Inch perfect pass is abit ott imo. He hits it into the space behind the backline then mcatee does the rest with a outstanding finish if salah scores that ssn would play it on repeat. I do think it's sour grapes from Evans though.
Good grief, bitter or what!! I’ve never liked him since his Rotherham days and he doesn’t get any better. What a load of tripe he was spouting there (well I think it was, being difficult to understand him). I hope we blow them away 4 or 5-0 when we visit them. I’d LOVE to hear his version of the game when that happens
