According to this report from a few years ago, capacity is 26 in the lifts. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/17549/changes-planned-to-bridge
Some clown was jumping up and down on it when we were crossing after and the bounce set my vertigo off. I bloody hate vertigo! It has nothing to do with heights for me, I don’t mind them at all, but an unexpectedly uneven surface or a weird camera angle sets my head spinning uncontrollably.
The Bridge was the icing on the cake. A couple of beers in the Market Kitchen & a couple of slices of pizza. A good day all round for me.
Noticed that, it looked a little messy to me, like they've rushed the final few finishes to get it complete given that it was already behind programme. Also some of that main surface finish was embedded in the yellow nosings, again just the little things but I would question if it's been properly snagged.
We noticed and said the same. Surface finish looks like a rush job to get it open. I hope the bridge has been properly snagged by someone who knows what they are looking at, as that shouldn't be acceptable as a finished surface and would be expecting it to be revisited to correct. Also, the traffic management there really needs looking at on matchdays. There will be an accident at some point as at present there is no sensible way of crossing from the bridge to Bala Street without dodging traffic. Really good to finally have the bridge open though to be fair!
Yeah, walked across this afternoon, and there’s wear lines on both sides already - the non-slip resin surface is coming away already.
Shouldn't have been handed over like that. Suspect it's been rushed because they were already well behind programme and unfortunately the quality has suffered. Surprised it wasn't picked up as part of a snagging inspection prior to handover.
Why didn't they shut the slip roads on the bridge side? Accident waiting to happen, they normally shut them
Agree - but final snagging and completion won’t be finalised yet until everything is finished. Suspect safety checks done and then agreed to open. Either way, the wearing layer has clearly failed prematurely. It’s either product failure or workmanship - and the contractor will have to sort accordingly.
The town side is still getting finished because it's the harder side to work on due to the surrounding area but they're cracking on with it now
