https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/25152726/nhs-doctors-failing-patients-remote-appointments/amp/ Anyone use it? Only 25 percent of over 17,000 appointments in October were done in person. That's an appalling duty of care.
My dad was recently asked to supple a urine sample as part of his diabetes check up. This picked up a water infection and his was prescribed antibiotics that were issued to his chose pharmacy without him having to do anything. They sent him a text message with all this info. Sadly my dad isn't the best with his phone and never saw the text. Nobody bothered to chase this up and it was only wen the went to pick up a different prescription a couple of weeks later the chemist found the other one.
Thought there was a new Grand Prix added to the calendar. Rubbish news though. An appointment in person can pick up issues that remote ones can’t.
Is that the one on George Street car park ?. Either way thats bad If I had to rate it out of 10 it would be a very hard pushed 3. Phone them at 8 they phone back decide if you need to see someone then see nurse practitioner a majority of times. I'm waiting for some large kidney stones removed and was told by the hospital to get in touch if I got a temp or excessive pain. I had 4 days where I had a temp of 101.6 (old money) and after that eventually eased the pain was so bad I was necking paracetamol like smarties. I went into the docs explained about being told by the hospital to get a new referral if things got too bad. So they got told the facts, just the facts. I was told to go away and phone in the morning at 8 to start the whole thing over, this was monday, but was told I'd have more chance of an appointment if I left it till Wednesday or Thursday. I am thinking of replacing the paracetamol with Rum
The next available appointment at my GP is Friday 12th January. For an over the phone consultation. I cannot book an appointment at the surgery at all. The website states in capital letters DO NOT COME TO SURGERY YOU WILL BE TELEPHONED BETWEEN 1pm and 5pm If I select a GP I've seen before rather than take any, the next available appointment is Thursday 18th January.
And for my GP "Sorry your practice does not currently have any appointment slots that can be booked online" It's been that way since march 2020
You do realise 17,000 appointments in a month works out to about 105 per hour, assuming weekdays 9-5? How would you suggest a single surgery sees that many people? It's not "doctors putting lives at risk by refusing to see people," it's "Tories putting lives at risk by underfunding and mismanaging the NHS to the point where the healthcare supply is woefully inadequate."
I think pretty much every gp surgery is the same, everyone has horror stories. They're the only business still operating as if covid is at its peak and the receptionists seem to revel in it.
We've got a walk in centre, but it opens 8-6 and you have to be referred there by the gp receptionist.......yes its just a surgery overflow. Genius.
We have? Where's that then? And has it always been there? I seem to remember we used to have one somewhere but it got closed due to overuse.
Oh yeah. Exiled... Makes sense I thought we'd got one back in again for a second or that I'd got it wrong as usual When I needed the doctor a couple of years ago and they refused to see me for basically months I eventually gave up and called 111 or whatever the number is they told me to go to the walk in centre in Sheffield. Straight in, no waiting, seen within 2 minutes and sent back out with an emergency appointment for hospital.
It's an awful service. 2 weeks ago I gave them a Urine Sample on a Thursday. The results came back on Friday. I rang them and they wouldn't give me the results as a Doctor hadn't seen them and said the Doctor would ring me. The following Tuesday i.e. last Tuesday a receptionist called and said the Doctors want another sample and that they would call me with the results. I went down got a sample bottle and returned it within the hour. It's Christmas Eve and I'm still waiting for a call. It's an awful service but the blame for that is with the Conservate Party.
