I'm a big fan of the BBS and in my opinion it is a million miles better than anything out there. Occasionally I'll have a bit of a trawl round some Twitter comments and other insignificants and the most stupid childish comments I come across are about the owners. Mis trust in "foreigners" "theyre only here take money out" "they'll leave the club when gates are down to five thousand" and other pearlers. I might be wrong but isn't our board made up of mainly English indeed Barnsley people ? Haven't this board invested around 10 million pounds in 12 months, and as for gates going down to 5 thousand under this leadership is quite frankly out of the mind of people with issues. Is it me or others clutching at straws.
I've had more than one argument on faceache about the money put in over the last 18 months. Some people won't accept it as true despite it being in black and white in the accounts.
No I think people just look at worst case scenarios and work back from that and the real opinion of the average fan is somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
Been a owner of a football club is the hardest job of all imo. Look at other clubs Coventry doing **** fans called for owner to go now it's all forgotten same with most clubs tbh. I remember when cryne was here he was one of us, put his own money in year on year to buy players, fund the academy, put effort in to scout players like conor, winnall, scowen and the rest. Still got pelters on here. But crynes biggest downfall was he was rich in comparison to me, but in football owners terms poor. Then we had Lee and conman who we are still feeling the pinch from so it's probably hard for some fans to trust owners after that **** show. Some fans just want a billionaire to take over and throw there money at it. Sadly its not going to happen.
Maybe some would like an owner like the guy at Peterborough who openly and sarcasticly thanked the supporters for there contribution for the house he bought in the Bahamas.
I think there is a xenophobic element to some of the "opinions". The ridiculous comments at the fan's forum about the Americanisation of the club were a case in point. Quite often, there is a lack of knowledge of what's going on. The money the owners have injected into the club isn't common knowledge amongst many fans. I've told fans who clearly didn't know this on Facebook before. Some also prefer to think the owners are somehow taking money from transfer dealings and draining money from the club. The owners and audited accounts say otherwise. There's a group of similar-minded fans on Twitter. They are usually pretty quiet when things are going well, but any bumps in the road from the club's point of view and the knives are out, and they convince themselves that the social media echo chamber of their creating is the opinion of all the fan base. That isn't the case. It's the same as on here. I speak to many other fans and groups who don't share many of the concerns I see voiced. I think we wouldn't have sold the number of season tickets we did if that was the case.
If you saw me in person. I'm completely different. My real nature is in fact not caring too much as long as the team is winning.
I don't think they made their fourtunes by buying league one clubs and I doubt there just going to throw there money at bfc. Wasn't chein lee a billionaire too.
No complaints about the owners from me from a financial point of view. It’s just the ridiculous scatter gun recruitment I have a problem with, where we sign umpteen cheap punts and often for the same position. Hopefully that’s about to change with appointing a DoF.
In fairness the investors/owners have had to invest mainly because of the mistakes made by the investors. When we went down from the championship in there first season mistakes were made by appointing the wrong manager/ head coach. They then appointed the right manager got promoted and then sold every player we could which cost relegation again. Roll the clock forward and the same mistakes are been made season after season. It’s easy to see why fans are upset.
But when we sign a player like watters who there were threads on here at the time saying what a signing, he'll score more than Cole, him and dallas will be our main strikers etc etc and it doesn't work out people then call it cheap punts when in effect every signing is a gamble.
I still think Watters is decent when played correctly. He needs selfless wingers and quick play to get the ball in the middle as does Cosgrove. If we play the ball quicker they will score goals. We need them to start chipping in because Cole's goals have dried up and I've more chance of signing than Mcatee.
Cole got a good assist at the weekend but needs a goal or 2. I said last season I didn't think our strikers scored enough Norwood only getting 11, I can't see watters or Cosgrove getting 11 this season.
Let's not sugar coat it, we have a number of uneducated thick ***** who follow the club. Probably never been outside of South Yorkshire in their entire lives. They turn up to these fans forums and ask the most retarded questions. People need screening before they're allowed into any future fan forum session to save the rest of us the embarrassment of listening to the ***** they spout.
