The trend has definitely shifted to putting decs up earlier and taking them down earlier.

Mine went up on the 1st and I’ll be taking them down on Friday. I don’t like having them up for New Year.

Be surprised if ours last until the weekend. My wife is far too matter of fact to have them up for long - Christmas is done now for her.

We have been away for new year a few times and I would hate to come back home after new year, with work the next day and the decs still up, so on those occasions, they come down before we head off. The miser record was one year when they went up on 21 December and were back in the loft by the 27th.

We usually start thinning stuff down a bit but always leave the tree until some time after after the 2nd ( variable)

A was saying to her this morning that I think I enjoy the build up as much as the actual day…….I always feel a bit flat too when the tree comes down, give it a few week and there’ll be bloody Easter eggs on sale :D

Tree and trimmings stay up until the 6th of Jan when the Three Wise Men arrive to see Baby Jesus.

Me Mam always says"2 week before, 2 week after" its my birthday on the 3rd of Jan (make a note) so me and my Mrs leave them up till then.
As someone else has posted I don't get this moden thing about "I can't wait till its over" these are the same people that moan its not like it used to be.

It’ll be five days straight of rain. I can go out in my windbreaker - bananas eh?

No tobogganing, no snowy hike in the woods, no taking the kids to play shinny at the outdoor rinks. What a shame.

Snow > rain any time of year for me.

Asked manager of St Catharine's Cemetery Ontario if she could take a picture of the headstone on the recently discovered grave of one of my forebears who migrated to Cnanda.
She couldn't do it as St Catharine's is 'under two meters of snow at the present time!' - think St C. is about 60 miles form Toronto.

    Wo
Yeah it’s possible they have snow that way - they have a slightly different lake effect on the peninsula. But here it is only 0 degrees and has finally stopped raining!
