Disagree with a fair bit of this.

Williams & the defence aren’t getting worse.
I’m not going to tell lies & pretend they’re great, it’s our obvious weakness but some of the individual performances particularly in home games were terrible earlier on in the season.

If they were getting worse there’s no way we come through the Stevenage game & get away from Peterborough with a point.

The defence that lost at home to Pompey & Peterborough & away to Derby aren’t getting them results.

Collins can do all the coaching in the world but he can’t add a couple of inches of height to his centre backs or make them quicker.

Let’s not forget Killip, Cotter / O’Keeffe, Williams, Lopata / De Gevigney, McCart, Cadden & Russell was the back 6 for a good 2 months of the season. For us to be so close to automatic promotion Collins is doing a lot more right than wrong.

Kane’s been our best player this season. He hasn’t only just started playing since Connell came back. Phillips you’ve got a point. I think he’s got license to go forward more now there’s more athleticism in the middle with Connell instead of Russell.

I’m not sure Connell played well throughout the game, he gave some silly balls away that led to counters in the 2nd half & if we had VAR he would’ve gave away a pen tonight at 2-2. The good news is he’s still an improvement on Russell while been nowhere near his best which only bodes well for the second half of the season.

???? He merely stood on his right leg. The foot was obsolete. One of the best overweight players I saw. Molby excepted.

about the words that he wrote. I don’t appreciate nor am I interested in your ad hominem attacks.

Collins has not improved the defence in any way. Basic organisation should be easily achieved regardless of personnel. It’s also fair to say that other than McAtee there’s not much sign of any player being improved by our current HC. Cole’s hot streak and the return of Connell have been two pivotal moments.

And aye Collins better than Stendhal. Excellent joke.

I’m gobsmacked it’s felt like he always scored against us but obviously not.

Yep, so I think it’s time to retreat from that conversation, before I start acting like something I hate!

I’d put Kane some distance behind Roberts and Cole, over the pre-Connell and McAtee’s upturn in form part of the season.

That’s what makes football so good. Although Port Vale actually outplayed us at home for the first 20 minutes and had we had their keeper in our goal they could have been 2 or 3 up before we hit 7 (SEVEN). They also were the better team second half the other day and were unlucky not to nick a point.

Collins taking a lot of flak for not improving defenders, but Duff didn't have to do that as he had the best CB in the division to pick from and to marshall the back line in Anderson (who iirc was really poor when he joined and took way more than half a season to look the part). He's worth a bag of points on his own.

Division is also slightly more competitive this year too. As many bigger teams than us have found out, getting out of the division is not guaranteed....

Roberts was injured for 2 months of the season. He’s been excellent when fit but you can’t be out for that long & be talked about as player of the season.

Mcatee’s been great recently but it was only about a month ago this place was full of posts saying he couldn’t play as a striker & should only be a no. 10 going forward.

    I agree.

The 7-0 was one of the biggest freak results I’ve ever seen. Both of our first half goals came against the run of the play & then as soon as we nicked that 3rd after half time their heads dropped.

Maybe contentious but the form of Liam Roberts in the early part of the season covered up some of the defensive frailty.

Still a good keeper but the form he was in at the start of the season we probably would not have conceded yesterday.

Still not calmed down (immature, old muggle that I am!), but that was as good a performance as I've seen from us for quite some time. I thought we were the better team throughout and should've come away with all three points. Not only was Kane my MOTM, but I thought he looked by far the best player on the pitch. Quite an achievement when Luca Connell also played and played well!

Best 90+ minutes of the season last night.
Looking forward to the second half of the season.Praise for Williams his best game of the season.Kane mom,Luca a consistant performer ,Dodgson who did very well at centre half gave us a left sided balance.Cole got stronger and stronger even into the last moments.
A team full of 7s with an 8+ for Cole and an 8 for Collins.
