We've never beat them at home! (apart from winning a Lg cup penalty shoot out against them in season '90). And they made their Efl debut in season '78, when we appointed Allan Clarke and won promotion from Division Four.
And didn’t we lose the game on the night before that shoot out in 90? Pretty sure the first leg at Springfield Park was my first ever away game, and we won the away leg. But it’s so long ago, I can easily be remembering it wrong!
Err yeah, what you just said lol. Both legs were 0-1, so there was no away goal advantage. Our first ever shoot out at Oakwell, I think.
I think difference from many of our other ‘post whelan’ meetings is money. Since he took them over they simply had the advantage of better players on better wages.
It's every season really. For example, last year the team scoring first went on to lose only 11% of games. In other words scoring first on average guaranteed teams at least a point 90% of the time. Even Forest Green Rovers with the worst record when scoring first won 6 Drew 4 and lost 6 of the game when they got the first goal.
