We all know all teams do it, but Chelsea today with Luton chasing an equaliser…… players getting booked for timewasting is totally ineffective. They are happy to take the card. I’d love to see a rule change where if a team is time wasting, (kicking ball away, taking ages over throw ins/ goal kicks etc) possession gets turned over.
The uproar this would create due to the referees inconsistency in applying the rule would be extremely comical. I suppose it'd be like a pass back or high kick without hitting a player where the opposition would be awarded a free kick inside the penalty area... it would certainly stop the pissing around!
Time gets added on. it's the shithousery I'd clamp down on. How many now go down (eg pretence of cramp) but get straight up if physio is beckoned. ? (lovely people) Players should be sent tut sin bin for the rest of the game. We have 4th officials who could monitor Throw ins goal kicks etc. by time and issue a changeover of the ball. As the OP suggests.
It’s hard to monitor whether a player is badly injured… Unfortunately, footballers seem to be fakers unlike rugby league/union and cricketers seem to be. Refs can only see what they see
If the physio is sent away mate, (to me a reorganisation tactic to stop flow of play) so they dont have to go off leaving the team light. Send em tut bin.
Make the game shorter and stop the clock every time the ball goes out of play, like basketball. Should be easily achievable with today's technology.
Or that! Got to stop shying away from sending them off if it's a second though. And I'd like to see a lot more time added on. The last world cup struck the right balance for me.
But it isn't 90 minutes is it? It's 90 plus two uneducated referee guesses, so why not have independent timekeeping? It works perfectly well in both codes of rugby.
I'd like to see the FA, EPL, EFL grow some and have a stock statement issued every time a club/manager/player bairns about excessive added time... WELL STOP FU**ING CHEATING.
