Probably because they’re second bottom, 5 points adrift, and hoping somebody without a single game as a professional head coach/manager is going to turn it around. His only prior coaching experience seems to be as the u21s assistant at Burnley. Bonkers to me too as it’s a massive gamble. Sometimes they work out though.
Inspired by both parties. Fleetwood get someone with no managerial failures, a good set of contacts and a really good playing career behind him. Adam gets a chance to prove he can be a success as a manager. Good to see a decent player getting a chance rather than giving it to someone who's failed many times.
That's a glass half full way of looking at it - if I were having a triple heart bypass I wouldn't take any comfort from the fact the surgeon hadn't killed anyone if it was his first operation.
I don't see the issue tbh. Every single manager has to start somewhere. And Being a head coach elsewhere doesnt mean you'll be a success. So many have tried and failed.
I like Charlie Adam, very grounded hardworking bloke I think he'll do well there, as if we wouldn't pay the 500k for him way back then
Think Fleetwood will struggle to avoid the drop so why not give him a go? They had experience with Little Lee!
Seem to remember a certain Allan Clarke taking a job without prior experience too.....that turned out well....good luck Charlie and we should have signed you from Rangers when we had the chance
They need someone to keep them up. After reading numerous former footballer biographies where Adam is mentioned, he won’t be taken serious enough to keep them up. My opinion but can’t see it working and they’ll be in League 2 next season.
I have no idea how he will do, their squad isn't great, it would be a challenge for any one. Part of me wonders if board are wanting someone long term to rebuild and they like his ideas what he's put forward, to get back up if they do go down. They have Marriott, Stockley and Broom (who we were interested in last season), so for this league they have a decent enough, experienced forward line - maybe its enough to keep them up...
Apart from Warnock. Who do you think could.?. On a budget probably the worst in the league. Ainsworth would have been a good shout imo. But not so sure he'd take a risk. So soon after failure at qpr. Experience has already failed in Johnson. The odds are, they would go down regardless of who is the manager. Good luck to him. (Except against us)
