I clean up after my dogs have been a dog owner for 50 odd years owned at least 13 dogs in that time and never had one incident of aggression toward anybodies children my dogs don't affect anybodies lives unlike pissed up nobheads letting off massive display fireworks in their 10 square meter back gardens inflicting their "enjoyment' on anybody within earshot.
Here's how I see it. We all know fireworks will be set off at bonfire night and for new year's. We all know it's, it's not a secret. We also all know that dogs are bred for captivity. If you have a pet dog then for the vast majority of you you've bought it. You bought it with the knowledge of fireworks existing. So you chose to have a dog bred and brought into the world knowing that fireworks exist. Why would you do that if you think fireworks are so terribly traumatic for a dog?
I understand why fireworks have to make a ‘bang’, to represent what would have happened had Guy Fawkes succeeded in blowing up Parliament. But people all over the world love watching fireworks, but does anybody actually enjoy listening to fireworks? Why not make them still bright, spectacular and colourful but silent.
Here's how I see it. As an owner of dogs who terrified of fireworks I've got no problem with folk letting them off on the 5th of November or at midnight on new year's eve but if you are letting them off at all hours on new year's eve and days leading upto and after November the 5th then you are indeed a fcu^k¡ng helmet..........sithi.
I find firework displays boring now (age I suppose). I've seen that many, I think spectacularness has peaked. It's ok for the younger generations. so I dont moan. enjoy while you can. As for dogs. I'm in agreement with the fact life can't stop for every person that gets upset. On occasion, knowing full well celebrations are going to take place. Most folk setting em off are not pissed as one poster points out. But prepared, regardless. Some irresponsible dog owners get pissed.
So what about if you've got kids who are excited for new year but can't really stay up till midnight? I know it's fairly common now for parents to trick their kids into thinking it's midnight and letting them celebrate then sending them off to bed. As for bonfire night we'll that depends on when it falls doesn't it. It's reasonable to expect people to celebrate on the closest weekend to bonfire night as well as the night itself but not weeks in advance or on random nights
I actually agree. But there have been many calls to actually ban them. My suggestion is just a compromise.
I've never known any kids excited to stay up for new year...its a load of old b○ll□cks fed into 'em by overgrown melts who do it to show off, the same slack tw☆ts that couldn't just rattle a bleeding pan for the NHS but had to go further by letting fireworks off. All for attention!!...and this fireworks at home bo@ll@cks on new year as only been a thing since the millennium year........sithi.
While I appreciate your responsible dog ownership and the lack of aggression incidents, some people may argue that the impact of fireworks on others is a matter of personal enjoyment. They might contend that individuals have the right to celebrate and express themselves, even if it means using fireworks, as long as they adhere to local regulations. Additionally, some may argue that dog owners should consider the diverse preferences and lifestyles of their neighbours, acknowledging that different activities bring joy to different people.
I’ve got dogs but not going to complain about people celebrating on New Year’s Eve ffs!.......I didn’t set any fireworks off btw, foooook me there are some right miserable barstewards on year!!!!!!........get a life
Yes. The number of tourists it pulls in, it will probably make money. It certainly wouldn’t cost that much as a net spend if it doesn’t. It is a relatively new thing ok but for my kids it’s now an annual tradition. They all love to see it, can’t wait to see them, along with the images they create with the lit drones. I thought it was great. I also quite like how the daily heil and gb news have reacted to there being references to things like windrush and same sex marriage during the show. Frothy mouthed ire all round. Apparently it was ruined by woke lefties… the fact that it is the 75th and tenth anniversary of those things being the reason they were recognised, and that the show in all its history over the last 20 years or whatever it is has always made similar recognitions of things that happened in the year passed or about to come - is of course irrelevant. And as they say, what would you expect from Sadiq Khan, after all he did create ULEZ… I’m sure they’d cry into their far-right cornflakes if they realised it was imagined and created by their poster boy Boris ten years ago. But then why let the facts cloud a good rant about foreigners (which Khan of course is. To them…). I and my family like the New Year’s Eve fireworks and I like them at bonfire night - I’m an animal lover and have a huge sympathy for those who mention the fear their beloved family members suffer - but you can’t ban fireworks for the sake of the minority who don’t want them. My youngest is actually quite dog phobic. She panics anytime anybody walks past with a dog, if it’s medium or large dog she can be quite distressed. This happens much more than a few nights per year too - I’d never dream of suggesting people shouldn’t be allowed to have dogs just for her benefit though. I just have to comfort her and make sure she’s ok and knows she’s safe - as many dog owners will have to if frightened by fireworks or anything else. (And as I did myself when we had a dog, we can’t now of course for our Evie’s sake. She is getting better these days). Fireworks going off before midnight I don’t mind either. It is understandable. People may have friends or family in other parts of the world - or more likely have younger kids who want to see the fireworks and so do them a bit earlier, maybe conning them into thinking it’s midnight and getting them to bed a bit earlier or making sure they don’t fall asleep and miss out by going a bit early.
