To have a young boy and a striker clearly devout of all confidence seeing the game out was a big mistake IMO
The problem was going deeper and deeper and allowing Wigan on to us. My mate was in the away end and he just said ‘wtf were you thinking?’ That was as dire a tactical display as I’ve seen for a long time. First live game of the season for me and I found it a struggle to watch.
I think the reason we drop deeper and deeper is because McAtee goes off. Him being on the pitch keeps the oppo a bit deeper because he's talented, as soon as he goes off they've nowt to worry about in pushing a bit further forward and in doing so forcing us back. The subs cost us today.
I imagine whenever a team sees Max Watters come on, they get an instant boost. A bit like when your oppo goes down to 10 men.
Relax. We don't have the right to win every week. It would be boring if we won every game. Be thankful there is a draw and defeats column to shake things up. Who knows with a bit of luck and decent application we could be in exactly the same position next season. Most genuine Barnsley fans would settle for that.
Collins substitutions including Styles for Phillips cost us 2 valuable points. Nothing came off for Kane today and that pass to Cadden just before their goal was just not good enough. Lopata should have come on and Williams moved across to replace O Keefe, Styles for Kane and Cosgrove for Cole. Collins should listen to Hassel, Jalo isn't a last 15 min super sub. Mcatee should have stayed on.
I saw him go up the tunnel but he was subbed immediately after a great run and shot and didn't look injured at that point, it was a great effort on goal by him.
we give goals away because when we invite teams on we don't close down the advancing player. we stand off, crosses come in and shots get allowed. As long as we keep doing that we'll need to score more than 1 to win games.
