There’s 11 days until our next game. Let’s go & get the one, if not two centre backs we need to have a proper go at automatic promotion. I’ve seen enough of O’Keeffe & Cotter to know neither are good enough right now for a promotion chasing side. Williams needs to get back playing at wing back & we need some pace & height at the back. Get that height & pace in & play a bit further up the pitch & not have the rest of the team constantly worried about exposing the backline. That's all we’re missing. The keeper, wing backs (Williams & Cadden) & the central midfielders are up to it & there’s enough goals between the forwards. Just the central defence that needs sorting & we can do it.
Agree about Williams. He’s by far the best full back we have. I’d be looking at raising funds from either Cotter or O’Keeffe. We definitely need a left back now Dodgson has gone back. As you’ve said, we need the actual back three strengthening. De Gevigney, Lopata and McCart are good at what they do but there’s no competition. McCarthy and Cundy I would have though would be but the latter has disappeared and McCarthy has been told he can go. We definitely need two centre halves if Williams is to play right back with Shepherd being sixth choice. We look a bit heavy in midfield. Jon Russell is too good to be fifth choice so can see him moving. Hasn’t been in the squad today or Friday making me think he’s off. Shame Wolfe isn’t fit as he’s great competition. That midfield could definitely change like with Kane, Connell and Styles all probably gaining interest. **** knows what’s happening with Benson as well. Another waste of a shirt. Same up top really. Marsh needs to be out getting first team football then it’s nice having five strikers but not sure if all will be happy. Can see Cosgrove or Watters getting restless, for different reasons, and pushing a move somewhere.
Yes yes yes and yes.. the only thing I'd add is a center mid that doesn't mind getting stuck in and getting a few yellows. We are tippy-tappy and get bullied against some teams.. ..
Marc Leonard being tipped to be recalled from Northampton, would love to see him here but suspect he will go to a Championship team.
Agree with all of the above and we do need some genuine cover for Connell, he will get suspended eventually and to fetch on late in games. I know that sounds like a luxury but that position is pivotal and please don't suggest Russell because he's not up not up to it sorry.
What we lack, in my opinion, is a midfield player with pace that can run between the lines and run past players. We create very few chances as it stands as our build up play is too slow and sideways. We’re not committing defenders and creating overloads. We’ll struggle to score against any team with a half competent defence that isn’t prone to errors.
Yea...a little bit like the guy we let go to Bristol Rovers in the summer and didn't replace properly.
" Jon Russell is too good to be fifth choice"... if he was any good he'd be further up the pecking order.
I was slightly concerned when I read this interview: https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...early-january-business-but-expect-quiet-month Seems the list of transfer targets has been drawn up for Hassell to go and get deals done, so, by the same people that seemingly came up with the lists in the summer and last January.
We need one proper CB and one, if not two strikers for me. I don't think two is realistic, so I think we're stuck with Cosgrove, but I would 100% be looking to move Watters on (probably a loan). Difficult to imagine a replacement could be any worse. I'm just utterly baffled at what Collins sees in him.
Does that give the others a free pass? I've not seen enough of them to judge properly, just asking if those three new CBs brought in really are good at what they do, given they are part of (or backup to) a defence that cannot keep a clean sheet.
Surely that’s positive not concerning? The Manager has told the club positions he wants to improve the team, the system has then narrowed down a list of players for BH to approach. Last January I thought was positive too?
he is League 2 at best-get rid-he slows everything down when he come on and has no attacking vision whatsoever
McCarts been our best and most consistent defender all season.. and he's not wanted by Rotherham.. so that tells all you need to know about the rest. If we seriously want to get our of this division and stay there, we need better
