I'll be honest mate, I've not heard of either of them, but both have good pedigree judging by where they've played previously. I honestly think a natural centre half, with a bit of pace and is comfortable in the air instead of Williams in that back 3 would improve us immensely.
If we want promotion I think Collins has done enough with the players he has and injuries to get some backing this January. Yes he's made some baffling tactical substitutions but he isn't confident of his key personel lasting 90 minutes. He fears a Connell etc breaking down again. It's a crossroads now. Back him or sack him in summer after another failure.
There should be players available though. Teams will know who isn’t involved at their clubs & is likely up for sale / loan. We should also have funds available with the late sale of Kitching & the wages freed up by Dodgson returning to Burnley. I know what you mean but I don’t think we’re in a particularly difficult situation. It’s not like some summer transfer windows when we’ve been relegated & have had to move on top earners before new players can come in.
We'll be more attractive due to league position too. I don't think its as hard to attract players as the club makes out either. All our managers/head coaches have stated they're in contact with agents all the time.
A voice of reason indeed . We’ll all probably be a lot wiser after our next few away games which I believe are against some of our main rivals.
It has to be the right player though. The club will have targets identified I'm sure, and I guess we'll sign them if and when they're available. With the size of the squad, it does concern me what state the budget will be in. We've only received a portion of the money for Kitching, and yet the board have still had to make another cash injection, suggesting the money from incoming transfers is still just helping keep us afloat. I guess time will tell. In an ideal world, we'd love 5 players in before the next game. In reality, there's so many moving parts that it's often not in our hands.
Spot on. We do identify players but faff about too long and lose out. Duff got fed up with Khaled and the recruitment processes last January and so held the famous 'summit meeting' and lo and behold Bobby Thomas is signed within 24 hours. Collins needs to grow a pair and get pro-active too - hopefully he'll get more responsiveness from Sir Bobby this time round. With regards money, given that we were told that we weren't selling Kitching and that in our budget we didn't need to sell Kitching then any and all instalment receipts we have from that sale are available unless we were lied to. The fee propounded by the intelligentsia on here was £5m so I can't see us having received less than an instalment of a quarter of that given he's on a four year deal at Coventry - that's £1.25m over and above what we'd budgeted for! Even if the fee was at the £2.8m basic plus add-ons reported in Coventry, that's £700k to play with.
