It may be more than the phrase odd like i used. But like I said some will but as said in reply to someone else DC United are 100 places below us according to the link he provided. *all said without watching video which I will try to get to later.
Yep. There will be a reason why a player is available and affordable in the January window, so there'll be a stick of some sort to use against them.
I think if I were him our record of developing and selling centre halves would be a major attraction.
We'd give one or two a game, that's about it. I think the pre-conception of the MLS and american football in general being a joke stems from the 90s, the standard has much improved since then.
So have watched this and TBH it’s soooo flawed and he actually said it was split between Champs & L1! His critics used: 1) Powet ranking- I don’t know enough about this criteria to comment but taken on face value it said it was split between Championship (C) & L1. 2) Pay l- Clearly the expensive imports skewered these but taking this out he says a medium player averages £5k a week. Thats L1 wages 3) Transfer value of squads- the average is well above L1 but quite a bit below C. No data on how that’s is skewered by the Messis of the world but would imagine it does. 4) Attendances- not even sure how this can be used at all given the American market is closed shops whereas UK have multiple teams in one city let alone areas the equivalent would be to have all the NWest as one team. To be frank it’s laughable at best. Players opinions - 5 players were asked. 3 said C level, 2 said L1. Worth noting 2 of the 3 having said C have never actually played in Uk. Finally the fella himself said the teams were split behind the top 5 in C, C & L1. in summary there was nothing in there to suggest my original opinion of some in C and most in L1 was wrong???
It's impossible to say how good the MLS is in relation to the English leagues. But generally speaking, the players who tend to do well in both are experienced Championship players in this country. Look at the likes of Johnny Russell, or Billy Sharp last season. So I'd say it ranges from bottom Prem to top end league 1. There's more of a reliance on home grown talent out there which probably brings the standard down slightly, but that's evened out by the top international stars going for one last pay day.
There are 3 physio vacancies live at Barnsley on the EFL job website. Head first team physiotherapist First team physiotherapist Academy physiotherapist None of those roles are Vikki's exact job title but with our GK coach being bandied around as the "Director of Goalkeeping" who the hell knows what job titles mean anymore. Sounds realistic though.. sad to see her go if so.
Be lucky to beat any of them. Our current bunch aren't good enough. I couldn't see them coping with.... 1) Time zones. 2) Vast differences in weather conditions. 3) Games at high altitude. 4) Going to away games two days early to get acclimatised. 5) Lack of away fans at every game. MSL is way better than it gets credit for.
What we do know is the first team one is showing as available on BFC website and the Academy one has been on here before. The Head one does look a lot like what could be her role.
https://irecruit.efl.com/vacancies/355/head-first-team-physiotherapist.html Poor salary that. You'd think being in charge of the health of millions of pounds of assets in a professional Football environment it would be six figures.
Well i guess at least he's tried to use some criteria to make it more scientific then just an opinion - MLS standard is just above mid-table Championship standard down to the bottom of Championship standard according to his conclusion. Seems about right to me.
Most of the wages in L1 for non-playing staff are lower than you might think. I know Sedg went to Hudds for a touch more money, but also it was purely a set role, nothing else he had to do.
Not what he said though is it? He said below top5 most in MLS in Championship with bottom teams in L1 his words. And 4 of the 6 criteria clearly have the MLS in both too.
It’s kinda hard to justify Vikki only earning 60k for what she does, in my mind. People I work with earn more than that, and they can barely tie their shoe laces. I wonder how she feels, when she’s had to nurse absolute charlatans like Oulare and Iseka, knowing they’re earning 5/6x what she does? Will be very sad to see her go. She feels like part of the furniture.
