I'm putting in an appearance, but only for a pint beforehand, didn't know about it until too late. I'll be the one not properly dressed...
Had a great hour with some Holgate old boys, some of whom I was meeting for the first time in over 50 years. It was fantastic to share memories, particularly football memories, which were still as vivid as if they were yesterday. A lovely get-together!
I used to drop my late father in law off at Ardsley House nearly every year for the dinner when it was held there. As time goes by I often wonder whether as an ex pupil I ought to give it a go. Intrigued if anyone from years 75-80 would be there.
Difficult to say as I didn't attend the actual dinner, I just had a couple of pints with old friends before they all went in. However, judging by the apparent ages of some of the guests, I'm sure that some of them would be from your era. I was 1967 to 1974.
Definitely, it was a fairly good turn out this year, well over 100 there, from those attending in the 1930s(!) through to the mid 70s. I was there 68 - 73, there were six of us from that year group.
Fond memories of Holgate in its later days. Never perfect but a good school with good people. I still have this tie hanging in my office at home, it might not be what the old guard remember but it's what I associate with the school
my uncle was there around that year, Bri Nicholson, not sure if he went last night though.. or even knew about it
Yes, I was there, it was a good evening. Also someone attended who I believe was at school in the 1930s!
Not a name I remember from my year but to be fair I don’t think many old boys know much about the dinner . We had a 50 yr reunion for my year a few years ago and only a hand full had been or knew about it
There were 8 different colours of pinstripe in that tie depending on which house you were in. Holgate - green Horne - white Locke - dark blue Sadler - orange Lancaster - red Keresforth - purple Cooper- yellow Butler - pale blue I was in Sadler 1962-67
